Its not really. Half pissed fat blokes, umpteen built scallies etc, are they gonna be told were to stand and that they cant go and stand with their mates etc? Are they ****. Then the next step in the plan is to bring the police in, then what happens? Its a very short step to some sort of fight etc.

Its an accident waiting to happen.

I'm happy sitting down because i'm too lazy to stand for the best part of 2 hours.

agreed - love to stand myself

I agree with the glove, ive seen it and done it too many times on away days, moved places to be with my mates even in seated areas, Blackburn, wigan, even with stewards it happens, Athens was totally disorganised by the greeks but the lack of responsibilty shown by a large element (dont let anyone kid you it wasnt many people cos it was thousands) of our support showed why standing can never be brought back. Even with the german system there will still be aggro as someone will want to sit and the fella in front will want to stand, then there is the point of how do kids see in those areas.
I think the atmosphere is a moot point, the big games there is always atmosphere sitting or standing, wigan at home mid week will not have the same atmosphere because it doesnt mean as much, simple really...

unfortunatly it wasnt a minority in Athens, there were thousands extra in that ground, we had 50 extra people on our plane ffs without tickets.

A friend and I were lucky enough to get a ticket for the Besiktas game in the KOP.

For the whole match I can honestly say that no one sat down except for half time of course. The atmosphere was fantastic, there were children in there who were being held up by their dads and the fathers weren't complaining because the children couldn't see the game. I acknowlege that these are one off games that we have to win but maybe if the fans were allowed to stand for the whole game in every match then the atmosphere at Anfield and other grounds would be top drawer.

FIFA and UEFA should take a look at this over the next few years.

What happened in Hillsborough was sad and has changed the face of football and how we watch the game. But football has changed a lot since then and for the better. Stadiums and policing/stewarding is a lot safer now.

Look at the atmosphere in games abroad such as Greece, Turkey, France and South America it's electrifying, where all the fans are bobbing up and down it's brilliant, that's what football is all about.
