Our Best formation?

this 4231 is bollocks against better teams. give me a traditional 442 any day.

in all honesty i see no reason whatsoever as to why we ever need to play a game with 2 defensive midfielders in front of a back 4 where our fullbacks are never really attack minded. sure bring on a second defensive midfielder when we need to hold on but to start a game that way is asking for trouble.

with what we have in our squad i'd prefer a 4132 with masch holding and babel, gerrard and yossi in front with crouch and torres upfront.

we need pace and width from 2 new fullbacks, a quality winger and a better striker upfront alongside torres regardless of whatever formation we ever play if we are to ever challenge.

I still like the 4-2-3-1 formation. We need a settled defense for big games against good teams though and pace on the right as well. It is actually a very similar formation to what Arsenal and United play a lot of the time.
