He sure was, he wouldn't have let Masherano talk his way into an early bath, guaranteed.

**** Keane! Let's talk about a real captain, Souness.

Marky, I agree with you bout Stevie G as captain. I don't think he's the best really but seriously, it's becoming just a bit tiresome now listening to you slagging him off. It's all the time. He's not superhuman ffs. He played ****e on Sunday, agreed, but give it a rest. Noone really covered themselves in glory so I'm not sure how you can single him out all the time.

Lets not be blinkered into thinking there is only one style of leadership. True, Souness and Keane we great leaders and I admire them both greatly (Souness more greatly tho! ). However there are other great leaders with a more unobtrusive authority, people like Bobby Moore.

What is my point? - well let's not bash our captain over this whole issue, just because he doesn't lead the way you want him to.

People have to take resposibility. You can't expect all direction to come downwards.

What people need to realize is that it takes more than SG to cover all the things we need from a leader. We know what SG can do. What we need to do know is get players into the team who can provide the rest. Hell for most of the time Souness was not the captain but he still led the team. Look what Gary Mac did for us. His experience was crucial to the treble season yet he wasn't captain. Rafa needs to fill out the squad to ensure that we are both technically and MENTALLY covered. SG can not cover the mentality part of the squad. Not his fault, he's just not made that way.

All that aside mate, bearing in mind Caco was at the game:...

Biggest culprit of the day? Gerrard. I thought his first half “display” was nothing short of appalling, I can’t remember a game I’ve seen when someone in our shirt just didn’t try, and that’s exactly what it looked like in the first half. He’d lose the ball and stop, he’d hit a crap pass and not apologise, he’d make little effort to harry or chase, and basically looked like he wasn’t up for the fight. He improved after the red card when he moved position, but as one of my favourite players for years, I thought he was shocking and looked every bit a “spice boy” circa 1996.

Is that really good enough, is it??
Not as we're not used to it now from Gerrard, esp against the mancs. He's a ****ing bottler at times. Maybe doesn't want to hurt wee Wayne or something, i don't know. Whatever it is he could do with sorting himself out and asap.

Bollox, souness would have got in the delorian way before that, utilised the flux capicitor to go back in time and get to the argentine way before he even got the first yellow. Then he would have broken rooney legs in a fair tackle and scored a hattrick. Thats the way a real captain leads.

                        Drivel.

The whole team was shocking against Man U. They contained us and were the better team. That said even at 1 nil down we were worth a point IMO. To single Gerrard out and accuse him of being a bottler is total bollocks. Accept that he can't drag the whole team to a level in every game. We were outplayed and tactically out thought. Gerrard isn't accountable for that.

I don't care particularly. I only said this because Ron indicated there were other reasons for not liking Redknapp and I thought this might be the reason.
