    Our away support these days

I don't get the impression that too many of us go off this site, but my brother who's been a regular for 20+ years reckons it has got so bad he's considering jacking it all in and saving himself the money. He says that these days the support is frequently mocked by home fans (the odd game apart). I looked at another board which gave these frank views:

What's happened to our famous support? Are we at a low or is he being too harsh?

    TIA

I refuse to believe it's as bad as no replies at all.

From where I was on Sunday, I have to say the support looked fantastic, regularly outsung the home fans, and was jumping for for much of the game, understandably it went a bit grim after the second goal went in, but I thought they looked like they were having fun!

I'd heard that some of "our lot" started trouble outside the game before the game. I've also seen and heard a growing minority of fans at away games who spend as much time abusing their fellow fans about where they come from as they do watching the match. That's not to mention the trouble they try and start in the surrounding areas.

I didn't think there was much problem with our away support. It always sounds impressive to me when I've heard it on television or have been in the home end for some of our away games.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Read Tony Barett's Match Report on the Echo site....

He prity much says the only decent thing about the game was the amazing support from the 3,000 Reds

I heard lots of chants which sounded like our Torres thingy, but it was so loud I assumed it was the prawn sandwich brigade, with their own spin on it.

Can anyone enlighten me of what was sung/who sung it please?

I was at the game in with the united fans up in the east stand (worst 2 hours of my life to date) Our support was over to my left and they were outstanding. they belted out the Torres song for a good ten minutes non stop. obviously quiet for a while due to having nothing to shout about but sang their hearts out at times.

The United fans are a disgrace, A good 70% of their songs are about the opposition. Constantly singing "u scouse *******s" and all that. You'd think a club with such a history would sing about it instead constantly singing derogatory songs about the opposition. I understand every club does a bit of this but i thought it just looked stupid for most of it.

                      That's what I heard then.
Like I said, on telly it was so loud, I thought it had to be the scummers.

You dont get chance to cause trouble at Old Trafford believe me (not that I would cause trouble anyway)

You are frog-marched by police from the station / buses to the stadium

Last time I went I vowed never to go again, as we we got near the ground it literally rained bottles on us things got that frantic a couple of police horses were pushed over

I will never go to Old Trafford again more trouble than its worth and anyone starting trouble will soon be way out of their depth there because of the volume of Manc supporters just waiting for an opportunity which is extremely limited due to the massive police presence

For the record my brother went Sunday said it was the same old gauntlet run in and out
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

The away games I've been to of late have had superb support, always singing always making noise.

Sooo.. the question we now face is:

Is our away support better than our home support?

                            Hello mert.
