    Mascherano charged by FA

Javier Mascherano has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

The Liverpool midfielder faces further disciplinary action following his reaction to being dismissed by referee Steve Bennett in the defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mascherano had to be restrained by his team-mates, manager Rafa Benitez and members of the Liverpool back-room staff after being shown a second yellow card for questioning Bennett's decision to book team-mate Fernando Torres.

The statement reads: "The charge relates to his reaction towards referee Steve Bennett after being sent off against Manchester United on Sunday, March 23.

"He has until 6pm on Thursday to respond. The case will be heard by a regulatory commission on Friday, April 4.

"Mascherano is currently serving a one-match suspension for the sending-off."

Bollocks but no surprise. Mascherano is in effect being punished for Ashley Cole being a little cunt.

You have to ask why if they have to make an example of someone it can't be a key offender ie, Terry, Rooney, Cole etc.

This has been brought about thanks to the chelsea committee of ref chasers.
Terry, Lampshade and Cole, et others.

        Again, we cop it.
        Reece, get off my wife.:whatever:

So he's got until Thursday 6pm to respond - that's handy seeing as he's off playing with Argentina. I know the club will handle it for him but it's a ****ing joke, it really is.
2 weeks after Ferguson's rant about Hackett and referee's he gets decisions like this go in his favour.
Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are all more arrogant and confrontational towards refs than we are yet they don't get charged and don't have **** decisions given against them.

Yes the Ref was an absolute ****** -no argument there

Masch was an idiot for even getting involved though, esp knowing the ref was just itching that we should be 'respecting his authoritay' (ala South Parks Cartman)... & once you've been told to go you should walk - irrespective of the rights or wrongs of the decision..... the hissy fit was out of order & embarrassing

He'll learn & hopefully won't do it again. Lets get it out of the way & move on

Yet another example of the FA reacting to media furore in my opinion.

Had this been in a non Live Sky Sports game, and following the Ashley Cole incident, I very much doubt the FA would have bothered taking any further action.

Very disappointing but not in the least bit surprising.

Sorry fella but i've got to disagree with you. You can't have players refusing to leave the pitch as Masher did nor can you have them wanting to continue having a conversation with the ref about the merits of the red card.

He should have went. One match ban and all of this would have been forgotten in a week or two.

For once i applaud the FA. This however should be the start of a systematic campaign by them and the refs to confront the constant ****e that refs have to put up with.

Man U. Chavs and Arsenal will get theres soon.

Its that ****** and Arsewipe Steve Bennet - dickhead courting publicity, he was bitch slapped for not getting involved in the Ashley Cole incident (he was the 4th official and should have got involved according to Hacket) and so he takes his anger out on us and Mascher, **** with big EGO should **** right off - knob jockey.

                  Rant over.
                  We come not to play.

Man Yoo and Arsenal will NEVER get theres, they have too many friends in high places, all they need need is for Wenker and Red nose Fergie to complain in public and ALL decisions go their way, as proven after the Fergie/quiroz rant after the Pompey game.

What pisses me off is there seems to be no universal rules, it just depends which referee turns up on the day.

On SSN they were saying that he was being charged because he took too long to leave the pitch. There's no getting around that IMO. Rules are rules and regardless of the preceding situation, he refused to leave the pitch, which is a punishable offence.

It appears as though we have a sensible post in this thread.

As you feeling al right sir?

You sure you don't want to jump on the reactionary band wagon like 90% of the other posts in this thread?

After all it was Steve Bennett / Alex Ferguson / Ashley Cole and Derek Acorah's fault that Javier did not leave the pitch after being sent off.

He was sent off for asking why Torres got booked whom he had just witnessed being fouled atleast 3 times, i'd be fuming too, i'm sure he was asking why he had got booked again and thus took him ages to leave the pitch

You're annoying me more and more these days, but this message goes out to everyone..

Mascherano WAS entirely in the wrong. He shouldn't have done what he did. It was immensely stupid and cost us bigtime. Torres had just been booked for chatting back (merited or otherwise) and Bennett was clearly cracking down. Masher was STUPID.

This charge is not trumped up. He broke a rule and is being punished. The whole incident was blown up by the current media climate. But if you looked back through the posts of this site as well as any other people were calling for action to be taken on this sort of thing.
