Glad Pennant isn't playing. Means it'll be Gerrard on the right. He can destroy Babayaro.

Crouch has to play. Newcastle just couldn't handle him in the 2 meatings last season.

Mind you Boumsong is gone, but Titus is still around.

Warnock to play. Doubt Rafa will play both Aurelio and Gonzo on the same wing against a side as good as the barcodes.

                      from the beeb

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is pondering whether to name an unchanged line-up for the first time in 92 games.

John Arne Riise (ankle) and Harry Kewell (groin) are both still out but Benitez has no fresh injury worries.

Newcastle's Steve Harper is set to deputise for first-choice goalkeeper Shay Given, who has undergone surgery.

Shola Ameobi (hip), Titus Bramble (knee and ankle) and Steven Taylor (foot) are doubts, but Nolberto Solano (hamstring) and Alan O'Brien (groin) are out.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Agger, Hyypia, Carragher, Aurelio, Pennant, Luis Garcia, Alonso, Sissoko, Gerrard, Zenden, Crouch, Kuyt, Bellamy, Fowler, Dudek, Gonzalez, Warnock.

Newcastle (from): Harper, Krul, Carr, Ramage, Babayaro, Bernard, Bramble, Moore, Taylor, Ramage, Huntington, Parker, Butt, Emre, Duff, N'Zogbia, Milner, Pattison, Ameobi, Martins, Sibierski, Luque, Rossi.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez on Mohamed Sissoko's recent bookings:
"It is easy to show a yellow card to a young player who is not a big name.

"You watch other games and see big names who do not get yellow cards at all and their tackles are maybe even worse."

"But he has a high work-rate and never goes into a tackle with a bad intention. Other players do much worse and receive nothing."

Newcastle keeper Steve Harper on deputising for Shay Given:
"It was a long time ago, but I did keep Shay out of the team for a while there and got injured myself.

"I have got an opportunity now to go in and make it hard as possible for the manager when Shay is fit and give him a decision to make.

"I wish him a full and speedy recovery, but I have just got to go in and give it my best shot and make it as tough as possible for the manager."
It's my job to handle life and death situations on a daily basis. It's what I do, and I'm very good at it.

Our fans were embarrassingly out-sung in the first 20.

                            Come on boys.

Why are we htting shots straight at the keeper again
Shame Kuyt was ruled offside - clearly on i thought
