Torres Injured!!! (actually he should be fine for the derby)

Just heard it on Radio City that he picked up another knock in spain's win over Italy and is now a major doubt for the derby!!!!

Doesnt surprise me as it has been an international week.

****ing meaningless internationals at this point in the season

Why did we allow him to go? Its just ****ing stupid. Ferguson withdrew Ronaldo and Nani and there was nothing wrong with them. Its our own fault.

Its ****ing typical because we are too soft. He had should have been withdrawn from the international. Why are we always such a soft touch?

Its just gone 9 am and already my day is ****ed

I thought you weren't allowed to withdraw players unless their national team agreed?

It's very frustrating if he's injured but it has nothing to do with us being a 'soft touch.'

              Probably based on this

Fernando Torres is a doubt for Liverpool’s key Merseyside derby with Everton at the weekend after picking up a knock in Spain’s friendly with Italy on Wednesday.

The fleet-footed forward shrugged off the knocks to take his place up front for Luis Aragones’ side, but limped out of the game at half-time following a clash with Marco Materazzi.

It is not yet known the extent of Torres’ injury, but he will be assessed by Liverpool’s medical team ahead of Sunday’s game with Everton.

Meanwhile someone who was at the game said he played on for 25 minutes without any problems following that tackle. I'm not going to panic until it is on .tv

I think he'll be fit, he's got the best part of 3 days to get ready.

This has just come up on the official:

Alvaro Arbeloa made his debut for Spain when he came on as a second half substitute during the 1-0 win over Italy and Fernando Torres also enjoyed a 49 minute run-out.
The Reds number nine came through the match unscathed before being one of six Spanish players to be substituted in the second half.

Arbeloa came on as a 73rd minute substitute for Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso also saw action when he came on as a 58th minute replacement for Marcos Da Silva. Pepe Reina was an unused substitute
                    .

i watched the 1. half of the game and apart form the knock he got form materazzi(fckin cunt) halfway through the 1. half, he seemed fine. i think it was agreed him and villa would each get a half to play in, and wasn't withdrawn because of injury.

he played as a lone striker and got himself in a couple of decent positions to score btw

                            Due to injury officially:

Even if they were only slight knocks and the Portugal coach agreed to allow them to miss it the decision is completely at the discretion of the coach. You can't 'withdraw' players from squads. You can only request it and let the national side decide and 9 times out of ten they'd tell you to bog off.

I would imagine that with Euro 2008 around the corner that Nando wouldn't have been that happy if LFC tried to 'withdraw' him from a game where he could cement his place in the side either.

I take your point but Nando has already "cemented" his place in the Spanish team. And quite honestly if his fitness was even in doubt he should have been "happy" to stay at Anfield.

Unless of course all the talk about his injury was utter bull****
