I think the most important thing in that interview is that GG has made it clear he will never sell his share to Hicks, meaning Hicks can never become a majority shareholder. That is crucial. If Hicks can't achieve that position, he is ****ed.

Agree. i've said before that I think GG was made a scapegoat a little by the lying Hicks. I don't agree with threats to his family either. He said he's going to be at the Arsenal game so I hope he gets a decent reception

Hicks is a totally different cattle of fish in my opinion though. Deserves all the stick he gets

This is well worth a listen if you get the chance lads. For those of you stuck in work here are some things I have gathered from it:

          a) He clearly refers to thinking about buying Hicks' shares. He must be delusional if he thinks that is going to happen.

          b) 100% confirmation, if needed, that his relationship with Hicks has completely broken down. As we suspected he lays the blame on Hicks for being publicity seeking.

c)The death threat calls made to Gillette's house in the middle of the night are a HUGE embarrassment to Liverpool Football Club. Shame on some of our "fans".

          d) He alludes to the fact that he offered Hicks the chance to buy some or maybe all of his shares but that Hicks couldnt "get to the finish line". Presumably this shows that Hicks, lacking any extra financial backing, has no realistic chance of gaining 100% control of LFC.

          e) Gillette: "The fans deserve better and we are going to do whatever we can to provide that, in whatever role we play." - This was a little cryptic from George. He had just finished talking very positively about DIC so it kind of alluded to the fact he is still willing to sell to them, but I also take it to mean he is still aiming at 100% control for himself.

In conclusion its difficult to work out what the current state of play is in regards to DIC. He doesnt hint anywhere that negotiations are ongoing, and theres no mention of the much fabled 90 day clause, although im sure that would be confidential information. My gut feeling is that DIC have certainly not given up but may just be biding their time and are in this for the long haul. I also feel they may have an agreement in place with Gilette, who appears to be extremely keen to regain his reputation as a good man and stop all these ridiculous death threats.

Pablo, there is a bit towards the end of the interview which kind of indicates that DIC have not gone away. I know initially he talks about 100% ownership but I do get the impression that the DIC thing is still prominent.

What's clear is he said that the relationship with Hicks has totally broken down. Also made a comment which indicates Hicks was talking rubbish in the press and made him a scapegoat.

I'm relieved that he's not going to allow Hicks to control Liverpool ever

Hopefully someone can confirm but is Gillett hated by the fans of the clubs he owns like Hicks is? Just to me it seems like Gillett isn't such a bad guy. I might be wrong but he doesn't contradict himself like Hicks does when Hicks talks about the fans then deliberately pisses off with his comments

He talks about we and that means more than one owner and that probably means Hicks out and that DIC will buy Hicks shares plus ?% of Gillett's.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

You are wildly speculating and reading into things here IMO, but then that is the thread title I suppose!

The best thing to come out of that interview is that Gillet states he will under no circumstance sell even 1 % to Hicks...

For me that is the best news yet, and Gillet seems to be more reliable than his partner! I just hope they manage to get Hicks out soon in some way, it is not good when two equal partners can't work together - must be bad for the club!

IMO it sounded like Gillet is now trying to buy out hicks, and perhaps with DIC backing, as he sounded very respuctfull and positive about them...

It would fit in with the minority shareholder thing and Hicks WILL be out and after listening to the interview it sounds like Gillett will play some part.

I have said that for ages always good to get some confirmation to what my friend told me. I was beginning to think that he talked out of his arse myself for a while with nothing happening.

His positive comments towards DIC came across loud and clear, if you know what I mean
Yep things are still going on behind the scenes for sure with DIC from the sounds of it. Im amayzed that the press hasnt got hold of this yet as there are a number of very interesting things that GG said in the interview. He must truly be worried about his safety if he is not coming to Anfield to watch the team play in the CL but is going to the Emirates instead?

There have been rumours of DIC taking 90% with A Nother having the 10%, this was speculated as being a fans group, but perhaps GG is keeping a smallhold?

Given that the banks effectively own G&H's shares, the buying part might mean that he is thinking of pumping in some money to clear some of the purchase debt and therefore own a portion of shares outright - with DIC buying the majority (again, by clearing the debt)

10% say would cost him about £25-30m. Given that the club's value still has huge growth potential that would be quite a clever move - and would allow him to take some of the credit for 'fixing things', thereby repairing his reputation to an extent
