Funny how every season Fergie has a go at Ref or an Assistant (calls them a disgrace etc) I don't remember him ever getting a touchline ban. When other managers have a go at Refs or players question them, they get fined and banned. It's an absolute disgrace. I've lost count of how many times Fergie and many you have bought the game into so-called disrepute but get away with it.

Fergie has been banned, touchline ban, a couple of times but it's a pointless ban anyway because the manager can sit in the stands and use his mobile to give orders to his number two on the bench.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Seems a little harsh to me. A red card (second booking in the game actually) and one game ban should have sufficed.

Scapegoat indeed. I wonder how many more players will miss three games this season because of backchat? I can tell you now - none.
        Oh I don't know.

****s sake, it wasn't for backchat, it was for bringing the game into disrepute for refusing to leave the field of play. Whether he deserved the second yellow or not is a moot point, the minute he saw the red card he should have left the field, not stood around screaming and stamping his feet in a childish hissy fit.

The only reason we would appeal the decision is if we wanted him for Saturday's game. Personally, i'd expect him to be rested for that game anyway, so we may as well use it as one of the matches in question. Alonso/Lucas or possibly even a shock reserve like Plessis (he impresses me ever time i see him play) or Spearing could be called upon for the match if Rafa decides to rest other key players.

The problem is that Lampard, Terry and Cole should also have been charged with the same thing, bringing the game into disrepute. No charges at all against them and that is a complete joke and double standard by the FA

              I concur

Something wasn't right about that performance and I think Mascherano and Reina embodied that on the day.

Unfortunately, the ref was in charge of proceedings at that point, and chose to ignore the offences. If he mentioned them in his match report, then that's the matter closed, as the FA don't take retrospective action in most cases.

Because in our case, the ref had already red carded Mascher, the FA could act. Tough luck for us, but again, before any one jumps on the bandwagon, the ban Mascher is getting is for his actions AFTER the red card, which were totally unacceptable. If he'd left the pitch, that would have been it, one match ban against the Bitters, and he'd be back now.

They could have charged them even if the ref mentioned the incident his match report or not, as you say, they don't do it in most cases but this was a special case.

Not even sure if that's allowed anymore though, didn't they get a UEFA rap for interfering in the Ben Thatcher case, and told not to do so again, as when the ref deals with a matter, that should be that?

UEFA can moan all they want. They do it a lot in Spain and Italy. A yellow can be a red or red change into a yellow after the game for example even if the ref mentioned it in his report.

It's up to every countries FA to decide what to do about it.

we just need to learn from it. masher to not keep mouthing off (he did continuously between his first booking and his second) and if he does get sent off then leave immediately and not create some drama.

gerrard too needs to learn that as captain he is needed to diffuse these situations and stand up for his team.

I don't think we'll miss him and prefer for him to be rested for Tuesday.

It was decided by the FA that after the Ashley Cole incident they would be clamping down on this type of behaviour. Mascher was just unlucky that he was a scapegoat.

Had he not been so daft though he wouldn't have been sent off. No argumets from me, and the correct decision. Hopefully from now on every palyer will be dealt with in a similar manner. If they are not only then will I start complaining.

Yes totally expected, but your comments about the other sides rings true, & the way Masher has been vilified for his one indiscretion. So typical of the treatment dished out to Liverpool Fc/players & the Fans in general.

Damn it i wish DIC owned us, see the respect we get then. I have a feeling the media may just hold fire more before shooting us down at every opportunity with some smearing ****ey rumours.

They clamped down on it one week, and one game, our game against ManU.

There has been many, many incidents with a player mouthing off at the ref and nothing has been done about it, no yellow card.
