Not seen the Eustace event, but i'm guessing there are different levels of disrepute. I mean, for all i know, Eustace could have argued with the ref briefly, but still long enough to make the ref mention it in his report?Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostCan you answer my question re: Eustace ?
On the Mascher incident, Mascher completely lost it, and there wasn't nobody gonna stop him from confronting the ref. Plus I'm willing to bet there was some choice language thrown in the mix as well.
I'd hate to think that the FA would be swayed by paper opinion, so i won't speculate on that matter.

It's not just the Eustance incident. According to the Echo last week LFC lawyers have got a dossier going back years showing that the FA consistently adds a one-game ban for players failing to leave the field having been sent off. That will be the basis of the appeal, that we have been unfairly punished relative to other people committing the same offence.Originally posted by Scratch View PostNot seen the Eustace event, but i'm guessing there are different levels of disrepute. I agree he deserved a further suspension for his behaviour after receiving the red card, but if everyone else in the game gets a one-match additional suspension for that offence, then I don't see why we should accept a two.Last edited by calvoboy; 04-04-08, 01:20 PM.

Liverpool have confirmed they will appeal against the extended two-match ban handed out to midfielder Javier Mascherano by the Football Association.
Mascherano was found guilty of improper conduct after being sent off at Manchester United on 23 March, banned for two extra games and fined £15,000.
"We have appealed and requested the penalty not be set aside pending the outcome," said a Liverpool statement.
As a result, Mascherano remains banned for Saturday's league game at Arsenal.
Mascherano appeared to question referee Steve Bennett's decision to caution Fernando Torres at Old Trafford and was then shown a second yellow card himself for dissent.
The Argentine, who admitted the charge, initially refused to leave the pitch.
Mascherano has now apologised, telling the Daily Mail: "I made a mistake and I regret this mistake. It was my fault. I apologise to everyone.
"I am not a dirty player, I do not make a habit of showing disrespect towards referees. I don't like this and I can only think the high intensity of the fixture, against Manchester United, affected my behaviour that day. It was out of character but I do not use that as an excuse."
He added: "I reacted badly to the red card because I could not believe what was happening to me.
"I must learn my lesson but move on from this and forget what has happened. I hope people know that I try to be fair and that I have no intention to be aggressive."
Mascherano had to be calmed down by Reds manager Rafa Benitez before he relented and left the field.
The midfielder, 23, was fined two weeks' wages by his club and banned for one game by the FA but after requesting a personal hearing, he was punished further.
His suspensions only relate to domestic fixtures and, having already missed the Merseyside derby against Everton, he will also be absent for the Premier League games against Arsenal on Saturday and Blackburn on 13 April. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Spot on. There is a clear historical precedent for a 1 match ban, yet Mascherano got two. That is the basis for the appealOriginally posted by calvoboy View PostIt's not just the Eustance incident.
