    Sell to Buy

21 minutes in is the interview w/Rafa.

Most interesting thing is that apparently our budget is limited and we need to sell before we can buy

we just need to sell regardless, Crouch, Kuyt, Voronin, Pennant, Riise, Carson and any number of never make it players like leto, guthrie, hobbs to make some place for new players to come in.

Will earn us close to 40 million that can be used to buy one superstar striker and go a long way towards a world class right winger

Nothing wrong with needing to sell first if it means we get rid of players that won't help us win the title.

Yeah, but I was hoping for more world class signings, I hope we are not back into signing pennant (bentley) types.

40 million from sales, a transfer budget of 20 million. with 60 million rafa can buy villa with 30 million and alves too! depends if he's learned to buy quality over quantity

What were you expecting with the Texan in charge? All this hope of world class signings was never going to happen.

We're in a worse position now than we were under Moores. We have £30m to pay in interest so there's no way we'll be spending anything over about £10m net and that's if you're lucky.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully, DIC will be in before the transfer window and throw their oil money at us

Haha, where are we supposed to raise £40m from? You mad? The most we could take in from sales is £20m

                Carson £6m-£8m if were lucky
Kuyt and Alonso wont be sold
                Pennant £4-5m
                Voronin £1-2 m
                Crouch £7m
                Other fringe players £3-4m

Round about £20m and thats pushing it

Id actually hang on to Guthrie. I watched him in Boltons game against Arsenal....and he's a cracking little player. He could easily play on the right in our formation. For the figures being bandied around (£2m) i'd tell Bolton to forget it. He's worth at least £6m

Both Spearing and Plessis in the reserves are better than Guthrie

Rafa: We've got loads of money to spend on big name players

Rafa: We need to sell some players before we can buy.

Now which is the most sensble statement?

                        All smoke and mirrors

With the way the boardroom is at the moment, we aren't going to get fortunes as it stands..

I'm hoping that DIC come in and we then go on the kinda buying spell that City went on last season when they got took over, just with us buying a better calibre of player.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

dropping all sorts of information to lead people astray is part and parcel of the transfer business... rafa would be a fool to talk openly about his transfer budget or targets.
