A professional footballer can pass the ball

He may turn out great, but calls that he should be ahead of Lucas and Alonso are way off the mark.

              Ronaldo was £12m, Nancy £17m & Anderson £17m.

Pongo was a lot cheaper & I thought he'd make a good squaddie to be honest, but you cant blame Rafa for Gh's buys. Babel & Mucas are the only "young" (is non-established as opposed to Nando & Masher) players we've really spent big on.

I have high hopes for both.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

The Dude: Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man

Fantastic debut. Need to be careful not to build him up too much, but at the very least after that performance you wouldn't be worried to see his name on the team-sheet in future. Showed a lot of composure and never looked flustered or off the pace. Rafa obviously chucked him in to see whether he would sink or swim, and he did well. Let's hope he develops into a good-un.

I think it was an exceptional first game from the young lad. It's hard to find a young player feeling so at ease for his first game and more, against top class opposition. Didn't look out of place at all against the likes of Flamini and Fabregas and even bossed the midfield at times. I think in the whole match he played only 2 bad passes and 2 bad tackles.

An exceptional first game by it seems potentially exceptional player.

                        Excellent info Maestro!

The lad played well, looked composed and played some neat passes. Against a quality Arsenal side he didn't look out of place. I haven't seen him before, and was slightly nervous about him starting, but he's good enough to warrant being in the starting line-up in future. It was a bold move by Benitez and it paid off.

                          Maestro calls another one

Plessis was excellent today, not just for a debut, but by the same criteria as others.

he was o.k., held his own

the game was played at a snails pace

The kid was amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes!

Not only was it his debut, but he was up against one of the best passing teams in Europe, on their own patch. Most debutants play for the last 10 minutes when they're 3 up at home.

I can't remember the last time a young kid made his debut in such a massive game against such a massive team. And he let no one down, the fact he finished the match spoke volumes for the way he played. I can only remember him mis placing one pass. I'd love to see the stats.

And don't forget he played in the most difficult position to make your debut - the engine room. Truly I was amazed.

Long way to go, and I'm sure it will not be all plain sailing, but a good start.
                                Forwards.......
