What's 'attractive' football anyway ? Playing only short passes doesn't mean the team plays better or that their football is more 'eye catching'. It's a question of perception. I always thought that Arsenal uses the long ball towards Adebayor a lot too, certainly when they can't pass through their midfield. They'll run and ask for the ball as much as their fitness will permit. You can't do this all the time.

We tend to play short passes too, but we are more cagey with the ball, changing the tempo of the game when we see it fit. This is the way we've always played.
