Will Crouch Sign The New Contract He Has Been Offered

On the prospect of Crouch signing a new contract, the Anfield boss said: "He is a very good professional, that's why we've offered him a new contract. I have confidence. I know he is happy here but I also know he wants to play. We have offered the contract and now we need to wait.

Based on his post-match interview, I'm certain Crouch wants to leave.

Who can blame him, really. He's too good a player to be wasting what could be the peak years of his career sitting around doing nothing.

Crouch is a good player no doubt about that he is somewhat unique but we have to comprehend the fact that the system that rafa has been using recently he doesnt fit into it. Also he lacks pace which i think is a must in the premier league.

If he leaves liverpool i dont blame him, he wants to play regularly and keep his place in the england team. If crouch leaves he will go to a team that is fighting for a european place the likes of villa/newcastle/pompey. Dont think the other big three would take him.

I really hope he signs the new contract because he has a part to play as well as a chance of wining trophies with Liverpool. Look at Owen what has he won since he left Liverpool and his at am age where most players are at thier peak.

Crouch is a decent player but we need better as a partner / cover for Torres if we want to be challenging for the league. Can be great on his day, but his lack of mobility and upper body strength will always be an issue. For me if Crouch was going to stay, we need at least 2 strikers ahead of Crocuh in the pecking order - and he's never going to be happy with that.

If we were going to sell we should have done so before he gets down to 12 mths left on his contract to amximise the retur. But we haven't - another mistake.

"It's been frustrating - it was nice to get a game, I've not played for a while and I enjoyed today.

"It's difficult, I'm not going to lie. I want to play in big games not watch them and thankfully I was part of it today.

"If the manager plays one up front Fernando Torres is going to play the majority of games because he's a top-quality player.

"I'll have to see what happens but I'll work hard to the end of the season."

On today's contest he said: "We had chances. You can either give up or show what you can do and I thought that was the case today."

              I really think its 50/50

On one hand, he can play for Liverpool and be part of a squad that can win trophies but will not play every week. On the other hand, he can go to the likes of Newcastle, play week in week out but win nothing and play in no big games.

I can't blame him for leaving but it would be a difficult decision for him to go or not.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I think he will leave. I think he would be crazy to leave but some footballers want to play week in and week out and that means more than trophies. Let's be honest if he leaves us his chances of winning trophies with Newcastle, Citeh or Portsmouth are very limited. I think a club like us needs players like Crouch to be able and willing squad members. Look at Solskaer at united for example. Crouch could be that player for us if he wanted.

I think he's going, he didn't sound to happy with his role and was non committal with his comments, he'll be at Villa, Man City or Newcastle next season.
                    We come not to play.

Hmmm, interesting, but disheartening, especially after a good performance today. I'm just as concerned that we won't make anything on him after buying him as a £7m gamble and turning him into a full international.

crouch has been done an injustice, no one is saying he should be in the team ahead of torres but it was shocking earlier on when voronin and kuyt were favoured infront of him as strikers.

it is highly unlikely he will sign a new contract

Id be happy for him to stay, but you never know. He could do with looking at someone like Ole stupidname at united, lots of time on the bench, a cupbaord full of medals and worshiped by the fans.
