Alan,do you really think that based on yesterdays performace,he is the worst player to pull on a red shirt in the last ten years?

I think he is yes, not just based on yesterdays performance though. In pressure situations his technique well and truly deserts him, plain and simple hes not good enough if that happens.

Its amazing how many people were pleased with the Crow after Toulouse away and now he is to some the worst player we have ever had.

Whatever happened to the Crow Fan Club?
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I agree with you that he isn't good enough, don't get me wrong. But we've had players like Diao,Ferri,Kwarme,Diouf,Diomede,Meijer(i don't even think he scored, did he?)Nunez,Pellegrino etc.

He can't be worse than them, can he?

                    I'm still here.

Ultimately it is clear that Voronin is a solid but unspectacular player - comparable to Kuyt really. He has been injured during the period of time we have switched to the formation he would have been best suited to (i.e. the 4-2-3-1 we are now playing). However I would agree with the point made that at pressure moments his technique has failed him at times. He has in a sense failed to build on a few good performances but he has had limited opportunities and has at times been played in an unsuitable team (i.e. when he has played with Kuyt) and has never had a period of games to build up form (in the way Kuyt has).

I think we need at least one player like him or Kuyt in the squad but we don't have players who should be ahead of them in the pecking order.

In short I think despite his flaws Voronin does not deserve the criticism he has had.

On the subject of Diao, laughable hyperbole on his arrival here:

                        Love this bit:

With Monaco unimpressed at the youth international's progress, the academy president El Hadji Malick Csy recommended Diao to the French Second Division side Epinal, in Lorraine. "It was my first time out of Africa and the temperature was minus 10C. That was unbearable, but the football passed me by, too.

"But they shoved me into the reserves and I found my feet and did well. Technically I wasn't supposed to be playing at that level and Epinal weren't too keen on that getting out, so they told any inquisitive scouts that I was a javelin thrower who'd been invited to training and was simply making up the numbers.
Remember, we're only adding to the nonsense.

Walking a lonely road one night, Nasruddin saw riders approaching. His imagination ran riot: he saw himself robbed or killed, so he climbed a wall into a graveyard and hid. Puzzled at his behaviour, the riders, who were followers of the Mullah, followed. Finding him cowering behind a grave, they asked "Great Sage, why are you hiding here?". "It's more complicated than you think" he replied, "I'm here because of you - and you're here because of me"

Think its to early to judge on him, at the start of the season he looked a good option up front playing with Torres. Then Torres got injured and he proved him and Kuyt were useless up front together. After this he got injured and is only coming back now. Would need to see how he plays along with Torres when both players are fit.
