Got this from another site thought it might make for some interesting reading.

The idea is to confess an admission of fault. Simply, I was wrong (be it a manager, player, signing, league position, whatever) and off the mark.

I'll start:

- Thought this year was going to be our year at the start of each season from about 1994 (and I am sure I will think the same at the start of next season!!)
- Thought Phil Babb was a class signing (even got his name on the back of my shirt)
- When Fowler was sold I was convinced Houllier had made a huge mistake that would come back and haunt him

I thought SpeedyG would be the new Barnes
And that Josemi would be the new Gerry Byrne

I too thought we would win the league this year.
I wish Ged hadnt come back to manage us after Thommo had done a great job for us.
I still cant watch the 1996 cup final goal by Cantona
I was gutted when we sold Scales.
I was even more gutted when we sold Fowler, even more so when my mum uttered the immortal line "Where's your God now eh?"

Told all my Manc mates that Tony Le T would be better than Ronaldo.

Told mates Cheyrou would take the Prem by storm.

Also said the Fowler/Collymore partnership would be the best in the country for years to come.

I've got a slightly insane mate who makes up his mind about players very early and seemingly on a whim, and sticks to it no matter what.

After about 10 minutes of the away game at Sunderland this season, he texted me to say "Voronin is the best striker we have!", and he stuck to it until yesterday!

He also called Hobbs (despite knowing nothing of him in the reserves) "the new Alan Hansen" after his league debut at Anfield earlier this season.

He's sticking by that one.

Still didn't quite work out how I envisaged. I also thought they were guaranteed to fire us to the title.

I thought that Torres would only score 15 goals or so in the league.

Rafa is now playing the system I wanted him to play the whole season with Gerrard in a free roll behind Torres and no wide midfielders.

I was very, very happy when we sold Cisse but not that happy when we bought Pennant and Babel I wanted us to sign Sneijder instead.

I thought Stensgaard would become a world class keeper (from reviews I read. I even had his name on me shirt).

I thought Gonzalez would be our left midfield for years to come.

I can't watch the Cantona goal from the '96 final.

I thought Morientes would fire us to the title.

I couldn't imagine McManaman & Fowler leaving in the run-up to their departures.

I once told John Barnes he looked like a bar of Dairy Milk when he wore a purple suit.

I thought Baros would become better than Owen

Pennant was one I think I got right.

Like you I was deeply miffed when we signed him. In fact I remember having an almighty debate with Naveed (?) on Koptalk....turned into a mega-thread.
