Crouch:I will make my desicion at the end of the season

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch says he will decide on his future at the end of the season.

The club have offered the 27-year old a new contract, but he believes he needs to be playing regularly.

Crouch said: "I'll have to look at it at the end of the season. Now I'm concentrating on winning something.

"I've got to be realistic, if I want to have any aspirations of playing for England, or furthering my career, then I have to be playing."

Crouch bagged Liverpool's goal in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and despite not being able to win a regular starting place, maintains he is happy at the club.

He said: "I'd love to stay, it's a fantastic club and I love everything about it, but I've got to be realistic."

Reds manager Rafa Benitez says the offer of a new contract is a sign the club do value the striker and the Spaniard believes he will stay.

He said: "I have confidence he will sign. The player wants to.

"At the moment, we are playing with only one striker, but we can play with two. It is not a problem.

"I know he is happy here and that he wants to play. But that is football. We have offered the contract and we need to wait."

Crouch has scored nine goals in 33 appearances for the Anfield outfit this season.

hmm, I do see that he has a point, but surely he must know that anywhere he goes to will be a step down.

I hope he stays but think he will go sadly.

I don't think he is good enough to play week in week out but he is an excellent alternative coming off the bench.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I think thats his predicament, being at a really good club but not playing every week against taking a step down and playing. You never know if he goes to City he could be playing alongside Ronaldinho if reports are to be believed.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

maybe so. il support the big man while hes here no doubt

              for me strikers should be

              good in the air
              quick
              poacher
              strong

crouch has none of these attributes

in his defence he has great control and quick feet... is he good enough for LFC, in my opinion no.

It is harsh yes, but i sort of agree, every big club needs quality squad players, players proud to be at the club & go with whatever the manager thinks is best for that club, even if it means not playing regularly.

As i recall we were the ones who gave him his england opportunity, i doubt he'd have played a game for england had he not been at LFC. Not even sure anyone else was in for him at the time.

Then Rafa stood by him through all the jibes & humiliation when he kept playing him even though he couldn't score. I would have liked Crouchie to sign one more contract, it's the first time he's been asked to show a little loyalty.

So yes, if that's the way he feels, that he's good enough to be an England striker even when all the other strikers are fit, then go.

And as bobbyfallon said......."Shut that door".

sorry that should be...."Shut the door behind you".

By this you mean "Sven has expressed an interest" yes?

Because there is no chance Ronaldinho is going to City.

He did play for England while at Southampton. But yeah, he wouldn't have played for England as much if he wasn't at LFC.

I stand corrected. I think he's in for a bit of a shock if he thinks he'll get more games for England by Leaving LFC & not playing in europe regularly etc.

Judging by Crouch's interviews its clear he is torn. He loves the club, yet he wants to play. He has every right to take his time and come to the best decision for him.

The game could do with more people with the same honest character as Crouch.

Crouch would easily walk into a champions league team in Italy. Hope he starts tonight regardless of whether he is with us or not next season.

If we don't buy a world class striker in the window and Crouch leaves can you see either Kuyt or Voronin leading the line?

Not just expressed an interest, his brother was over, everyone assumed it was for Utd, but he was talking to City, and has gone back to Barca to speak to Ronnie......allegedly.
