Adebayor - We know what to expect

This is quite funny. I almost feel sorry for him.

    GUNNERS SPLIT OVER ANFIELD FACTOR
    Jimmy Rice 07 April 2008
Arsene Wenger has labelled Liverpool fans the noisiest in the world – though his top scorer Emmanuel Adebayor disagrees.
Wenger admitted to reporters at Anfield that his players will never have experienced anything like the Kop on a European night.

He said: "It is difficult here, I accept, because they are a little bit louder than anywhere else. They have more stamina than anywhere else, but at the end of the day it'll come down to how we play on the pitch.

"It will be a comfort to Liverpool but it is down to us to keep the crowd quiet."

Adebayor, however, caused much amusement among the Merseyside contingent of the press pack when he told the same news conference that he knew exactly what to expect having faced Liverpool in the Carling Cup last season.

He said: "For sure we are ready. A lot of our players have already played against Liverpool. We played them in the FA Cup and Carling Cup last season, so for me the atmosphere will be similar to what we saw a year ago.

"The players are ready. Cesc Fabregas is ready, Flamini is ready."

Afterwards, as he headed for another round of interviews, Adebayor was heard being briefed by Arsenal press officers on just how loud Anfield is on a European night.

Meanwhile, Wenger revealed his belief that Arsenal WILL win the Premier League title this season.

He said: "I personally still believe that we will finish champions of this league. The Man Utd result on Sunday helped a lot because if they had won I would have said 'no'. But I still believe we will do it."
    Oh I don't know.

i was lucky enuf to be in the kop for the olympiakos match a couple of years ago... there is NOTHING like anfield european cup night. il never forget it til the day i die
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Tis a shame, we can't recreate that atmosphere for league games.

I hope the roof is ripped off tonight; let's see how Arsenal's young guns (no pun intended) react to that.

It's hard to keep that level of intensity throughout every game (maybe we should rotate supporters!). The day after I go to a game I can hardly speak cos my voice is so knackered. If it happened in every game, then these nights wouldn't be special.

It's a bit silly though, Rafa talking about hiw it will scare them etc. If you know something's coming, and everyone talks about how it will effect you and how it's the loudest noise in the world, it must reduce the impact when it actually happens.

You could also argue that Rafa is further geeing up the fans, and it'll make the atmosphere even more intimidating for the gunners...

If I knew a really funny joke, but before I told it I promised everyone they were going to hear the funniest joke they've ever heard and that they would wee their pants when they heard it, it wouild probably make it less funny.

Rafa's whipping us into a frenzy. We're all going to go insane in the stands. Arsenal really won't know what's hit them.

That is also correct; but what if you were known as the funniest bloke in all the world? It could make it EVEN funnier!

Rafa has bigged the crowd up before game before, and it has still had the desired effect.
