Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I was at the 2005 Semi against Chelsea at Anfield. Most Liverpool fans, players say they have never experienced an atmosphere like it. When the goal went in the stadium was literally shaking. It is something you'll never forget

Paid £500 for the ticket..was well worth it

I agree it was the best atmos ive ever experienced at Anfield even going back to the eighties, last years semi was good as was the end of Olympiakos, and Juve, the FA Cup semi against Chelsea at OT was good too, 2005 semi final was unbeleivable, Youll never walk alone at the end made me cry, more through eardrum pain than emotion

So we have Wenger: "It will be a comfort to Liverpool but it is down to us to keep the crowd quiet."

And Adebayor: He said: "For sure we are ready. A lot of our players have already played against Liverpool. We played them in the FA Cup and Carling Cup last season, so for me the atmosphere will be similar to what we saw a year ago.

my god they really don't understand it do they. if they score, the crowd will be more vociferous. there's no way they can keep us quiet tonight. if they score 3 then maybe but surely even then it'd get rowdy rather than get quiet. we arent like their fans ffs.

He should have spoken to Gallas beforehand, he can tell you how the crowd affects the game

Well guys, they've played at Anfield many a times, so I can see what he's alluding to.

Yes but obviously you can see that he is mistaken, no?

Yeah but if you were going to a haunted house and someone told you "it's dead scary, loads of ghosts' etc etc, you may be more on edge and therefore actually more scared because of your preconception than if you'd gone in without one. That's the effect I think Rafa's trying to create, knock their concentration.

Why is he ? He's played at Anfield before, albeit not in an European match, but it's well documented how our fans are. I hope they'll be intimidated but I won't bet against them.

Just like the Chelsea players in 05, after the match I dare say most of there opinions changed.

Did he not play at Anfield for Monaco in Europe in 2005? Pretty sure I remember a few lads shouting at him to get a pan of scouse down him.
