We've already got the situation where almost any tackle on the wings is a booking. We have to try and create, (or maintain?) a situation where attempting to carry on and get past a player, or attempt to take a shot is encouraged, and taking a foul as a tactical ploy is discouraged. If we start handing out reds for tackles on the half way line, we'll have less open play, more stop/start imo.

No reason why the fact that Babel scored should mean there wasn't a red car. He should have been off.Originally posted by REDrascal View PostCynical play, like when Fabregas clearely grabbed Babels shirt when he was in on goal, luckily for him Babel scored, or he could have been red carded, late in the game yes, but none the less Cynical.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

That is probably the best anti-argument yet. I think that both making a foul cynically and diving are equally discouraged. In my eyes the later part could partly be done by having a different way of looking at advantage and having a rugby like time in which if no real advantage is gained but the team keep the ball moving it is play continues but if they loose the ball or shoot wide etc. the play can be bought back.Originally posted by Operation View PostWe've already got the situation where almost any tackle on the wings is a booking. Interesting idea. And it's odd that the current rules on advantage aren't used very often.Originally posted by dww View PostThat is probably the best anti-argument yet. I obviously meant he should have been given a red card, not a red car.Originally posted by REDrascal View PostI agree, i think the Ref just felt sorry for them, KILLER goal & all that, but yes by the rules he should have gone, & of course then it would be carried over to next seasons Champs league.
