If Crouchie and Babel each get a goal between now and the end of the season that'll be 6 players in double figures. Pretty impressive, I wonder when we last had something similar?!

In some ways it is very impressive but I really think it hides a truth that we have not been a consistent threat in every game. We have had periods when we seem unable to stop scoring and a number of big results Sunderland, Derby, Besiktas that really skew these stats IMO.

Could you not have reserached that before starting this half-ass thread? Honestly.

It is very impressive though and goes back to what Rafa has been saying for years in thet he doesn't need a 30 goal a season striker if he's got 4 or five on 10-15. Luckily we happen to have the 30 goal a season striker now too.

Stats are stats my friend. 87 goals spread among 6 players is fantastic. Surely another sign that we aren't far away from finally clicking everything into place.

It is definitely an improvement in some aspects of our play. However every stats has a limited area of applicability and if we were to look at a stat on whether we scored at all in individual games or an modal number of goals scored then our scoring would look less impressive.

We have in three bursts this season shown that we can handle what all but the to four can throw at us very successfully. We have possibly retained a level against the top four. However the problem remains that through substantial stretched of the season we have failed as a team to score the goals needed to win games and are reliant on one or two of the players alone in that list to score regularly in the PL too often.

Do you have a correlation coefficient?

I'm about to peform a regression analysis on the number of goals needed to win everything, when holding wind speed and grass length constant. I'll publish my findings later in the year.
