possibility of alonso sitting out for plessis AND lucas? i'd be tempted for the fulham game next week (??) rest masher and alonso for the chelski pish.

Yeah Lucas is meant to be in the Gerrard mould isn't he?
He's been quietly effective so far without setting the world alight but he does seem to be a pretty intelligent footballer, does remind me of Pirlo a little bit but with maybe more ability going forward.
Only thing that concerns me with Lucas is how often he gets knocked of the ball, he gets stuck in but when the 50:50 shoulder charges are going in he's usually put on his backside.
Still a young lad though and will hopefully be a big part of the club's future

I hate to keep posting this, but Lucas is true box to box. I followed him for a year or so at Gremio. This comp. is pretty indicitave of how he plays. I think Rafa is working on his development and teaching him how to play the holding role. Once Rafa unleashes him to play box2box you will see a very different and MUCH better player.

I hope we never see Crouchy played up front on his own again.

I'd play Xabi and Stevie in the middle, and play Babel up front with Crouchy.

Apart from that I'd go with the rest of your starting side.

I don't think the players need a rest so much but I'd hate to see injuries at the moment to star players.
