Stanley Park, the site of Liverpool's new stadium, has become the most significant battleground in the American Civil War between owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
The Hicks letter demanding chief executive Rick Parry's resignation follows Gillett, his son Foster and Parry confronting commercial director Ian Ayre about his presentations on the Stanley Park blueprint being part of Hicks' failed road show to raise money in London.
The Gillett camp believe Hicks should not have used the Liverpool ground as a lever for his own ambitions, while it is understood Ayre, who was appointed by both Americans, told them he was under orders from Hicks and would do exactly the same for Gillett if asked.
Meanwhile, it won't please manager Rafa Benitez, who was unhappy to be mentioned in the resignation letter to Parry regarding transfer deals, that Hicks' people are still in contact with Jurgen Klinsmann, who was sounded out to replace Benitez earlier in the season.
