Tadow!Originally posted by RedWolverine View PostRafael Benitez has rejected suggestions that he should take into account the relegation battle at the foot of the table when considering his team line-up for this weekend's clash at Fulham.
With the first leg of the Champions League showdown against Chelsea following hot on the heels of the game at Craven Cottage, Benitez admits he is likely to make changes for Saturday's game when the Reds will be looking to move eight points ahead of Everton in the race for fourth.
Bolton's Gary Megson has already called for Benitez to play his strongest eleven at Fulham, while former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has again harped back to last season when Fulham's victory over Liverpool helped them avoid the drop at the expense of the Blades.
Benitez, however, insists it's up to each side to look after themselves over the course of a long, hard campaign.
"Obviously I will be thinking a bit about playing key games in Europe after Fulham. But the key is to keep winning, we may do it with different players and we need to use other players," he said.
"We have a big squad, good players to come in and we will treat this game just like we did at Arsenal.
"I know there was criticism last season when we did something similar at Fulham, coming from Sheffield United.
"But what did they do in their last game? They lost. So I feel it is sometimes better to look to yourself and what you do.
"Teams have 38 games to play each season, that is enough. So you are responsible for your own luck.
"Look at what all the teams in the middle of the table have been doing recently. They have been using different players, young players, and they have been preparing for the future.
"What did Bolton do in the UEFA Cup with their team selection?. They left players out.
"I will use the players I believe will be good enough to win this game, and the next one and the next one. I believe 38 games is enough to be successful or not.
"And clearly our squad is stronger than it was last season when we got to this stage.
"We should have won that game against Fulham then. And I will put out a team I believe can win this time.
"I will be thinking a little bit about Chelsea. I have players I do not want to risk, and I have enough quality in the squad to win at Fulham."

Rafa Benitez hit back at criticism from lesser managers in regard to fielding "weakened" teams in the league before his side beat...sorry meet Chelsea in the CL semi final next week.
"Colin's just a bitter cunt and should look after his own affairs, no? If you can't beat Wigan at home on the last day of the season to stay up, then you must be a really **** manager who looks to blame others for his own shortcomings. Also can I add he is ugly as well? Tosser."

Ferguson when his players are due for international duty????Originally posted by Parr_Zee View PostHe's done this a few times now ... it is rather funny!! Rather than resting players, he now rules them out with neck injury, toe injury, groin strain, and then sure as hell they return for the big game!!

Rafa makes a mockery ? You decide !
Neil Warnock has lashed out at Rafael Benitez for making a mockery of the Premier League survival battle - and hopes he never wins another trophy at Anfield, reports the Daily Mail.
The former Sheffield United manager is still seething that Liverpool lost 1-0 after fielding a severely weakened team at Fulham last May, a result which ultimately kept the London side up by a single point at the Blades' expense.
With Liverpool playing in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, Warnock expects Benitez to leave his star names on the sidelines again against the Cottagers on Saturday but believes that would show contempt for the clubs fighting to preserve their top-flight status. Warnock shows contempt every time he opens his mouth IMO
"My advice to Reading, Bolton and the rest would be I'll bet their all hanging out for his advice
, if you're expecting any favours, don't hold your breath," said the Crystal Palace boss. "They will have to do it themselves. Isn't that how it should be?
"The fact of the matter is that if Liverpool were already out of the Champions League and needed to win to get fourth spot, they would play their strongest side. "I'm still very bitter about it and personally I hope Liverpool never win another trophy under Benitez. I like them as a club but I would be very pleased to see them win nothing." Does that mean he's confessing to be an evertonian :bird:
I cant beleive he's still on about this 12 months on. We made it to the CL final because we rested players and his team got relegated over the course of the season, not one bad game or because we rested players. Wake up boof head and move on
