It seems like the personal insults thing is only applicable for some people, because i get called all sorts and that's par for the course, naturally.

I think the problem is that you tend to have the biggest influence on the tone of these discussions. You are a very frequent poster and have a tendency to condescend to people which gets their back up and then get surprised when people respond with insults.

I would however be interested to see a list of post where you have been called "all sorts" without provocation and no action been taken. We have worked hard to make the standard of debate in the football forum improve and have clamped down quite hard of late - we try to let banter go to some degree and I have to say that in general the new approach has worked.

All it takes is a little consideration of posters other than yourself and a little restraint.

H Hmm, i think most of us were looking at the case for 'averages' with a slightly tongue in cheek approach. No? Nothing but the game on the day has any relevance obviously.

Sure 3 in a row of semis against one side is unusual, maybe even unlikely considered before the 1st game has been played, but considering it after we have already won 2 of the 3 games, means it is as likely to occur as it is unlikely, it's now only 1 game.
