Aurelio out for the season: Riise, Arbeloa or Insua?

Fabio Aurelio out for rest of season

    Apr 23 2008

FABIO AURELIO will not play again this season after being injured during Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first-leg against Chelsea.

The Brazilian was substituted in the second half after appearing to be injured.

First reports from the Liverpool's medical centre suggest the defender, who arrived at Anfield in 2006, has injured his groin and will not figure again this season.

He was replaced on the pitch in the 61st minute by John Arne Riise.

OK. Who do you with at Left Back? Riise or Arbeloa? In my opionion they both made a blunder for the goal. Arbeloa tried to play the offside trap from a throw in, Riise for trying to head the ball when it was at shin height. Realistically speaking, Insua is a far too inexperienced to be considered - or could Rafa use him the same way he used Plessis against Arsenal?

Arbeloa at left back for me and to be honest I don't think we can ever rely on Aurelio, the lad's body just isn't up to the challenge even if he's a very solid LB, which is sad, but kind of what was expected when we signed him.

            Carra-----Skrtel----Hyypia-----Arbeloa

With Insua as backup on the bench.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

He won't put Insua on the bench for such a crucial game. I fancy Insua to either start or have a place on the bench against brums. If Finnan is fit he will be on the bench or start against chaves IMO

I'd go for Carra for Chelsea, with Arbeloa for the rest. maybe even Insua for the Brum and Man City games now that they are meaningless.

At this moment I don't want to see Riise kick a ball for us again. Though I'm sure I'll calm down eventually....

Order of preference for LB for the games that matter - Arboloa, then Carragher, then Finnan, then Insua, then Crouch, then Riise .......... in that order

I rate Aurelio highly but he isnt up to the rigours of our game.

Finnan at RB, Arbeloa at LB

Can't see Aurelio ever really getting over his injury problems.

I'd be tempted to play Riise in the return leg as hopefully he more than anyone will be up for it in the hope of making up for the OG.

I was quite keen on Arbeloa when he played there before, but to be honest I wasn't that impressed with him last night at right back, he got caught out of position a few times and his passing wasn't great.

I'd give Insua the remaining premiership games to see how he does but I think in all honesty we'll be looking for both a new right back and a new left back in the summer
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Arbeloa for me. Riise shouldn't be in our first team and should be sold in the summer.

                            Insua for the Brum game.
                            Arbeloa for the Chav's.

I cant see Carra at LB next week he will be in the centre, Drogba showed he is a handful (as well as a prima donna) he would be too much for Sami. I think it will be Finnan at RB and Arbeloa at LB.
