    DROGBA, Diver says RAFA.

    So, the mind games begin.

RAFAEL BENITEZ has added extra spice to the midweek game between Liverpool and Chelsea by suggesting Didier Drogba is a diver. Ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday, Benitez called for a strong referee to be appointed to curb the antics of the striker.

The Liverpool manager was furious about Drogba’s behaviour in the first leg at Anfield on Tuesday and said he was “really disappointed” at the sympathetic view taken of Drogba’s regular falls by referee Konrad Plautz.

“He is amazing because he is massive (and yet goes down). It is very impressive,” Benitez said caustically. “With Drogba it is important to have a good referee. You can’t do anything (to stop him going down) but I will say it because it was so clear.

“Drogba was given seven fouls and Fernando Torres three. Torres has bruises all around the body. So from the first minute I was disappointed by the referee.”

Uefa do not reveal the identity of referees for Champions League matches until 48 hours before they are played, but Benitez said he hoped an official for the game at Stamford Bridge will be from a European country with a big league, unlike Austrian Plautz.

He felt Plautz’s willingness to keep blowing for free kicks whenever Drogba hit the turf contributed to the five minutes of stoppage time during which Chelsea scored their crucial away goal in the 1-1 draw.

Benitez is so vexed by Drogba that he revealed he possesses a “lowlights” video, featuring what he feels are instances of the striker play-acting dating going back several seasons. “I have a lot of clips about him,” the Spaniard said. “We played against Chelsea 19 times since I came to Liverpool and every time I have collected clips. I have shown them to some of the players. I think that (Martin) Skrtel and Carra (Jamie Carragher) were really good against him.”

Rafa's done the right thing there. He's brought it to the refs attention and the ref will now want to be seen to keep it under control.

Thank God Rafa brought it to the Ref`s attention.
Hopefully we`ll buy the Ref a Tv and DVD player and show him all the times Drogba has dived around the place.(Rafa doesn`t need to point this out,if we can see this then Ref`s can too)

I don`t want Rafa sinking to Slur Alex`s level.

We have the classiest Manager in the PL.
        Keep it that way Rafa.

We have played them 19 times in four years

Rafa is bringing up what he feels might be an unfair advantage for Chelsea to the attention of the referee. I don't understand why an English semi final shouldn't have an English referee.

To be honest, if Wednesday night's ref (whoever it is) needed this bringing to his attention in the first place, we may have a problem.

Agreed DJ. Rafa putting the spotlight on it does put the ref under more pressure to clamp down on it though.

Drogba's antics are despicable. As close to "anti-football" as you can get on the field of play I reckon.

rafa maybe a classy manager but sometimes you have to lower your own standards to sort trash like drogba out. it's for the good of the game ultimately - the man is a plague. crazy thing is the guy is so strong that if he didnt go down he could like bundle his way past you anyway and get a shot on goal. potentially one of the most devastating strikers in world football. but most often just a big clown

I think as well as, if not moreso, than putting pressure on the ref, maybe Rafa is actually trying to put a biit of pressure on Drogba as well. Surely if he thinks his games in the first leg have been pointed out he might think twice about doing it incase the ref is pressured by Rafa's comments.

trouble with drogba is it might be better him rolling around on the floor like bambi on ice. for as he has shown against us in the past, if he stays on his feet he can be deadly. we aren't too bad defending direct free kicks so maybe on this occasion we should let him continue his despicable ways. didn't damage us on tuesday night, just gave us something to laugh at

No harm in rafa bringing it up. Just hope that he's preaching to the converted.
