Im really happy with our CL performance, I was hoping that we'd make it at least as far as we have this season.

League wise, I didn't really think we'd win this year, although I was hoping we'd be a good bit closer than we are. 6-8 points behind wouldn't have been that bad for me, although we're not that far away from there.

We've made some massive improvements in the squad this year too. Torres, Mascherano and Babel are all class players. Hopefully with 2 or 3 more of similar quality in the squad for next season I don't see any reason why we can't mount a serious challenge for the PL whilst performing in the cup competitions too.

The facts are last season we were in the CL final and 3rd in the League, this season semi-final and 4th. Not to mention everything off the pitch. I know things are not that bad, but the warning signs are clear.

4th again after off the field sh1t is good - but the $ spent is not getting the reward. I am sick of thinking "next season will be the one" - we seem no closer than we were 4 years ago to winning the league. AND the Mancs, Goons and Chelski are weaker than they were. In Feb, when we were playing attrociously, people were calling for RB's head - I said I'd overlook it if we got to Moscow. We didn't

Despite our defeat last night im still proud. Chelsea had all the luck. Own goal, penalty, and no penalty for us when Hyypia was fouled. Thats football just have to accept it. Can't get to the final every year

We are lucky to have Rafa. We are one of europe's CURRENT elite clubs because Rafa has took us to 3 semi finals and 2 finals in the last 4 seasons. Thats mighty impressive and i dont believe any other manager could have managed that.

Ofcourse we are dissapointed to only finish 4th in the league BUT you have to understand that football has changed and Englands top 4 are the richest and most powerful clubs in the world. The fact that we continue to compete with the rest of them is reassuring. Competing with the other top 3 is not easy by any means and we are doing just fine.

Iv had a lot of good memories this season. We were unlucky against Chelsea but smashing Marseille, Porto, Inter Milan and Arsenal is really impressive and was alot of fun. We cant get to the final every year. Happens, get over it and lets look forward to next season where hopefully we will make more progress

Without Rafa we wouldn't have got Torres, do any of you seriously think he would have come to play for Martin O'Neil, Mark Hughes or anyone else???
Mascher is on record as saying he signed because of Rafa, as is Babel.
Some people on here are ****ing deluded if you think we can challenge for a title when we spend less than our rivals on fee's and wages, don't have the revenue income levels they do and all of them have either A) stability or B) a bottomless pit of money.
We're still paying **** players left over from Houllier who was a ****ing joke towards the end and only ever had a plan A which was defend on our goal line then launch it over the top for Heskey and Owen FFS.
I honestly cannot believe that some so called fans don't appreciate the manager we have and the job he has done.
Who was the last top draw player Houllier, Evans, Souness attracted to the club???
****ing Sky generation spoilt ******s some of you.

                    So we'd have
signed other players in stead then

                      Exactly.

Worse players and we'd have a worse team.

We've not lost as many league games as we usually do, we've performed better against the other top 4 sides in the head to heads than in previous years, and with a couple of good signings we can push on and challenge next year.

Cup competitions were a bit of a disappointment but a champions league semi final which we were unlucky in isn't too bad.

If we get the ownership stuff sorted out before next season and we sign quality rather than quantity in the summer then I'll be happy going into next season
I agree with you on this, we stopped losing against most of the teams we shouldnt lose against with the exception of Reading and West Ham, but we had too many draws.

I do see this as progress in that we didnt lose games, we also did better against Chelsea and Arsenal this year compared to previous seasons (should have beaten Chelsea at home remember the Malouda dive). So i still think there is room for improvements, like you say quality rather than quantity signings plus the introduction of some good youngsters would be what i am looking forward to.

Chelsea and ManU have outbid us for players we wanted, until we can compete financially we`ll stay behind them in the PL.

Probably Darren Bent, Gavin McCann and John Oster.
You're clutching at straws if you think we'd have signed better players with a different manager.
More accuratley you're ****ing mental if you think we would have.
