Simply world class, off the planet. I really dont know how people can watch that and tell me we'd be better off spreading £20m over 3 players instead of one.

That's what £20m gets you and with our current squad, i'd rather have one more of that type of player per year (and sign nobody else) than 3 £7m make-weights.

I can't believe its taken this long to get a Torres thread out. He might have been in and out of the game but that goal and that chip onto the crossbar - phenomenal stuff.

I remember last year when we were linked with Torres i was excited the factthat we could get a world class striker. At his previous club he was alway consistent scoring 13/14 goals a season but with better players around he showed his class this season.

His goals from open play has been superb, excellent and a few of them have been world class finishes such as against chelsea our first home game of the season and his goal today against spurs. Every penny spent on this lad has been worth it and hopefully he can continue scoring goals next season.

I think to a certain extent if we can add a player of his calible on two positions right wing and left wing we can mean business. I would settle for a 20m+ player a season rather than adding make weights/potentials/sqaud players. Rather invest in one world class player every season.

This summer our first and formemost priority should be a right winger a world class player and with player sales we can bolster other departments. Players such as bently/barry/degen/milner aint gonna make us win the league or take us to the next level. For sure there are going to be departures but why add sqaud players at best to replace current squad players. We need players that can chnage a game instantly and add more to our team. Hopefully rafa has someone lined up in his sleeve that would be an edge of the seat signing as rick parry says it

Simply awesome, it was very similar to the 3rd he scored into West Ham at anfield. Season has ended at a bad time though. I hope the Euro's don't tire him out coz he is looking fit and sharp at the moment.

But he is pure class. 1 of those player that you just know will never lose his touch. Next season will be harder for him as defenders start trying to work him out but he is truly world class and will always score goals for fun

Yeah defenders might double up on him, rough him as well but if can add an more firpower up front especially the right wing we could see an influx of oppourtunities for Torres to score. I dont think he has scored any tap ins this season.

That was an incredible goal from an incredible player.

I agree we need more world class players in our side, but the chance of £20m finding us another Torres is incredibly slim.

Yeah I understand his point mate. But his theory is a bit flawed. What if we spend all of our budget on a 20m player and he gets himself crocked !?

It's all about building teams and Rafa has done fantastically! I just think we would have been up there fighting this year had we not had a 'slump' in late December / early January. The team is good enough right now ... And there's Ronaldo for United who was in superb form ...

Don't know about Diego, never seen him play albeit only a glimpse. Yes, we need quality, but if we can get better players than Pennant, Riise and Dirk, then we'll be fine. And they probably wouldn't be costing as much as Torres.

Torres is great no doubt. Now get Villa or someone of that ilk in case he gets injured!
