    Youngsters released

Meanwhile from last season's Academy squad McAuley revealed that defender Mattone Awang, winger Ben Parsonage and striker Michael Collins have been released. Swedish midfielder Astrit Ajdarevic is still under contract as an Academy player but is currently looking for another club. Shane O'Connor and Michael Scott will stay on at the Academy next season as third year players

Interesting about Ajdarevic I thought he was one of the most promising kids we had

Really surprised about Ajdarevic - looked promising and I expected him to push on and make an impact.

Yes, I've heard good things about Ajdarevic. Looks like I'll have to re-draft my 2013 first team line-up. Shame for Parsonage as well.

Have to say I'm not as surprised as I would have been 6 months ago. Back then our youths looked unstopable and a huge reason for this was Ajdarevic supplying sublime passes to Eccleston, Pourie & Amoo who were scoring for fun, however we have been awful pretty much to a man (boy) since Christmas

I have watched our Swedish friend quite a bit and when you analise his game, he has a sweet left foot, can spot a pass & has a decent shot on him ......... however for someone who's about 6'3" he is not good in the air, is not a strong tackler & has no pace - for a central midfielder at least 2 of these 3 are a must

I had great hopes for him early doors and thought he would be fast tracked to the reserves but as the season went on I had serious doubts as to whether he was ready to step up. Same goes for Purie who I thought was awesome at the start, scoring goals for fun but for 3 or 4 months now he has just looked like a greedy, sulking little **** and I have read elsewhere that he is extremely unpopular with the rest of the players

Wouldn't you say that there is deficient management for that team? A team which is playing really well one minute then just implodes - you have to look at the coaching staff more than the players.

Hence the rumours a couple of weeks back of a serious shake up of youth / academy coaching / scouting. I agree with what you are saying but I still think there are a number of areas in Astrit's game that would need improving dramatically to turn him into a first team player at Anfield

Don't want to be too harsh on the kid but I think he is more suited to a continental side where he would have more time on the ball to show his skills as opposed to the high tempo, ferocious game in England

i thought that adjarevic would make it because he had the talent to do so. To hear that he is looking for another club is a massive shock. Is it purely down to lack of talent or are there some other factors involved ?
