Paul Ince's son joins Liverpool Academy

A famous Liverpool name is on the Anfield club's new roll of academy youngsters, with Thomas Ince following in his father's footsteps.

Ince junior, 16, has been taken on by the club as a first-year academy trainee, but unlike his father, who was an England captain as a midfielder, Thomas is a striker.

Paul, 40, is now manager of MK Dons and took them to promotion from League Two this season, after previously taking charge of Macclesfield when his playing career came to an end.

Ince played for West Ham and Manchester United before moving to Inter Milan, and cited the fact that he wanted Thomas to attend school in England as the reason for his return from Italy to join Liverpool in 1997.

The Ince family have always kept their home on the Wirral, where Thomas has worked his way successfully through the Liverpool's schoolboy teams to the point that he has now started his career as a professional.

Liverpool have released three players from last season's academy - defender Mattone Awang, winger Ben Parsonage and striker Michael Collins.

Swedish midfielder Astrit Ajdarevic, part of the FA Youth Cup winning side of 2007, is looking for a new club while still being under contract at the club.

Ince is an interesting managerial prospect. He has shown himself to be a cracking manager at the league 2 level and has been linked to a number of premiership jobs like Wigan, Derby.

Surprising thing is that based on his personality I thought he would never succeed in management. MK Dons play decent football and it will be interesting watching their progress in league 1. He is well liked by the management, his staff and players.

He scored at the Kop against the Scum. Seemed really pleased about it as well.

So he decided to play for us when he could have had a pick of clubs, he lives in the city got his son to play for us and you still think he doesnt care about the club. Looks like your dislike for him has blinded you a bit.

Hehe no worries, I find it hard to understand your posts a lot of the time. Lets just hope his son becomes as good a player as he was.
Mind you it does seem kids of great footballers never seem to make it. I think its due to them not having the same drive as a footballer from a poorer background, who knows there best chance to be a success is to put there heart and soul into their football.
