Home players proposal - Ulterior motive..?!

I honestly don't believe this is in an issue about the number of foreign players in any one league or team. I believe this is more about the fact that FIFA & EUFA are once again worried that European football is starting to be dominated by English Teams.

As we all know, English teams we're winning everything in sight during the 80's and it took a unjustified and unprecidented decision to kick out ALL English sides after the Heysel Disaster to level the playing field again, and putting the English game back nearly a decade. That decision was not about English hooliganism as was originally claimed, but because of the political pressure placed on FIFA & EUFA by opposing, and subsequently suffering Football Associations. I suspect something similar is at work here...

You only need to look at the competition's final stages over the last few years for proof that the balance of power has once again shifted. In the last 4 years, Liverpool have been to the final twice and won once. Arsenal followed Liverpool to the Final in 2006, and we all know what happened this year - 4 EPL teams in the Quaters, 3 in the Semi's and two in the Final..!! I can't imagine that the Italian or Spanish "Giants" are happy with such a scenario and will likely be complaining to their respective Associations to ensure that this situation doesn't leave them without valuable CL revenue. What else can FIFA do..? The EPL is clearly the league in Europe with the most foreign players. By restricting their usage, FIFA will be leveling the playing field once again. The majority of Spanish & Italian teams already consist of home grown talent, and thus the advantage will invariably shift back to the likes of Milan, Barcelona & Real Madrid, and is likely to remain so for years to come. Let's face it, the flow of English talent is not exactly brimming at clubs such as Liverpool, Chelski or Arsenal...

    Absolutely that's what it's about.

FIFA don't want one 'super' league as the Premiership appears to be capable of becoming. They'd rather have 4 or 5 quite strong leagues than 1 dominant one. Whether or not that's a good thing is another debate.

But wouldn't something like a wage cap be a better solution? Level the playing field for the teams in the UEFA competitions.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I don't know, i was going to say limit spending or something but, then who dems how valuable a player is, compared to another one. Its complicated. There arnt enough good English players coming through end of, its the coaching system, i have read lots of books by foreign ex players who say the English coaching system is laughable.
It doesn't stop the the likes of Spain etc doing well.

Mourinho will plunder Chelsea and once Ronaldo ****s off, the playing field will be more even.

But is very few world class English players coming through really a new thing? A World Cup win on our own soil more than 40 years ago aside we have won nothing and we usually get to the second stages or quarters, occasionally we get to a semi and we don't qualify for the odd tournament.

Isn't this 'modern failure due to foreigners' that the media points to not just a continuation of historic trends? It's not like we used to be be Brazil.

Its not so much the coaching but the prices as well. That 17 year old lad from Cardiff has never kicked a ball at the highest level and is £5mil. You can get a proven international from abroad for that kind of money. Thats why players dont come through. Any players that do develop dont get the chance because their club prices them out of the market.

I think alot of it has to do with English players playing and staying in England aswell.

That England team should win everything. Them players could get into near enough every team in the world yet they fail time and again. It cant be all down to coaching. More likely down to them being a bunch of Bertie Big bollockses.

If all else fails, blame the foreigners.

I wouldn't say they where the best. Against Spain we are no where near. Italy is better, France possibly aswell. Teachnically other teams are alot better and pass us off the park. And they usually have a striker who can score.

Yet the same players have no problem looking like world beaters for thier clubs. Its an attitude thing for them.

I'd put the press, FA, fans and rigid formations as other reasons why the England team is ****
