The reason why Kuyt reminds me of Alonso

The first time I watched Xabi live I could see that he was going to be something special. His work rate, composure on the ball, dedication and playing to his strengths were clearly evident...... i then went out and bought an Alonso shirt.

Last weekend was the first time I was able to watch Kuyt live, and even though we lost to the Chavs he impressed me in much the same was as Xabi did.

I don't think that he is by any means the most gifted or natural player that I have ever seen and certainly needs some additional development, but he works his socks off, has a great attitudes, knows exactly what he is capable of doing, is incredibly strong and most importantly plays to his strengths, and is aware of what is going on around him.

These factors are what are going to make him a superb signing, and when I go to Anfield on Wednesday I intend getting a shirt with his name!

very keegan-esque, yes he isnt the worlds best talent but he works his socks off, puts 150% effort in, and is always looking for the ball ....god loves a tryer.....as does the kop!!

Once he understands the rules like you can't pass to your self from a free kick he'll be great

Love his confidence, plays on the pitch like he owns it. Constantly talking and point to where he wants the ball.

Great player and by the sounds of it a great person.

Great comparision to Xabi someone else who i'd pay my entrance fee just to see.

Both players simply have Liverpool FC written all over them. Undiluted class and professionalism; the keystones of LFC's history and success

Both Alonso and Kuyt are class! Xabi's passes are one of a kind and Kuyt's effort in the game is unlikely to be seen at other clubs with other players. Plus I was totally amused with his goal v Spurs. What a smash! The last time a saw a Liverpool striker smash one like that was Djibril Cisse v Monaco at Anfield.

Scum can buy Carrick, CSKA London can buy Obi Mikel, Bollock and Sheva... But the difference between our signings and theirs is that we buy CLASS and potential legends!

If it's work rate and making the most of your talents, then the comparsion should also be made to Momo,...

                    and Gerrard...

                    and Riise...

                    and Carra...

                    and Bellemy...

erm... that'll be a lot of the squad then

SOunds like the same idiot gene that had a go a Josemi for celebrating the CL win, cos he was a **** player

Kuyt is a fans player, like Alonso, Carra as someone said like our team.

Rafa has built a team of workers with bite.

                          Well, TBH...
With fans paying a lot to see them play... That's the least Kuyt can do for them (appart from playing well and scoring goals of course ).

keep hearing this and as someone who saw kk i disagree. kk was a much better player technically and was quicker over short distances than kuyt. kuyt is stronger (though kev was strong for a short man) and has a thunderbolt right foot.

ive also heard him compared to shearer which is closer to the mark but i think the player he most resembles in style is mark hughes.

i would swap 2 kuyts for a new kevin keegan

I think the Keegan comment comes from his desire and hustle - but then they may as well say like Rush.

I agree that he doesn't play like Kegan when he has the ball, in that KK would run at players while Kuyt looks for a pass. His movement when he doesn't have the ball, but the team does, is like many good forwards who are prepared to drop deep.

The likeness to Hughes is quite good but I remember Hughes as being much more physical, pushing players around and tackling people at knee height, ignoring the ball. I never liked that aspect of his play so maybe it dominates my memories of him.

I remember KK very well and his impact was immense, but twice as good as DK? Sorry but I have to disagree.
