    Torres in trouble with spain

    Aragones: The job's not done
Spain boss Luis Aragones has hit out at Fernando Torres following the striker’s reaction when he was substituted during the 4-1 victory over Russia.

Torres set up David Villa’s opener on Tuesday and impressed for La Roja, but was substituted quite early in the second half.

The Liverpool hero refused to shake hands with Aragones (see picture) when he returned to the substitutes’ bench, something that the 69-year-old cannot accept.

The coach said: “Those things stay in the dressing room. But this is not over. I can’t let those things happen.

“I understand a player being irritated when substituted, it happened to me, but the atmosphere is extraordinary and being correct is important."

Torres has admitted he was frustrated to be removed, but is aware that the coach’s decision is final.

“I haven’t spoken with Luis [Aragones], but if he wants to tell me something, he can,” Torres said on Onda Madrid.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

That's my biggest worry for Spains chances, as i said in an earlier thread, 'That they can go all the way, so long as Aragones doesn't **** it up'.

dont think he would do that to rafa.

But aragones is a stubborn old ******* and he should have been sacked after the debacle of the last tournament.

He has antiquated ways and favours the home based players. How on earth do you explain the omission of fabregas who would get into most teams in the world but cant get into the spanish one.

Because aragones thinks that xavi hernandes and andreas iniesta are better players ?

              Not for me.

Spain did fairly well last night. Don't think that Aragones is that a fool. He must be doing something right as regards the football and team building.

He maybe a prick, a prat or a racist, but he's paid to win football matches.

                    Not for me.

Spot on. i am not an expert in Spainish football but this bloke is a class blert of the highest order. How he is still in this job is beyond me. The only reason it seems is that he will promote/prefer Spanish based players.

IMO Spain are the favourites on paper by a fair margin. If they do not win it is because of the backward ways of Aragones and the Spanish FA.

**** him, kick Torres out and let him rest for the main event.

                      Aragones: No Torres rift

Spain coach Luis Aragones has dismissed speculation that substituting Fernando Torres during the 4-1 win over Russia has caused a rift between the pair.

The Liverpool striker was clearly bemused by the move as he left the pitch, opting not to shake Aragones's hand as he headed towards the bench.

But the coach said: "I understand why the player is angry and I am behind him, we won't let things fester."

Spain coach Luis Aragones has denied there is a rift between him and Fernando Torres after the Liverpool striker was substituted during the 4-1 victory over Russia.
Torres was replaced by Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas during Spain's opening Euro 2008 clash, with Aragones later confirming it was a tactical decision.

The Liverpool striker was clearly disappointed as he made his way off the pitch, but Aragones insists there is no problem between the pair.

"I understand why the player is angry and I am behind him, but it is important to correct these things afterwards," he said.

"They are things which stay in the dressing-room but things won't stay like that, we won't let things like that fester.

"I understand that a player gets angry when he is substituted, it has happened to me, but the atmosphere in the team is extraordinary.

"Torres contributed and worked up front to block Shirokov and he did it perfectly.

"The goals are a product of Villa, but the first was given to him by Torres."

Former Spain coach Jose Antonio Camacho was also glowing in his praise of the Anfield front man.

"Torres' generosity in the first goal was admirable," he said. "When you are a striker, it's not easy to see a team-mate when you are bearing down on the goalkeeper, but he had the presence of mind to give the ball to Villa. That was a great gesture."
