We don't need both. Scholes is coming towards the end of his career, Anderson just starting his, neither of them expect to start every game.

If we bought Barry and kept Alonso that would leave 4 players - Mascher, Alonso, Barry and Lucas competing for two places - 3 of whom - Mascher, Alonso and Barry will expect to play nearly every week.

I mean, I don't know about anyone else but I'm not all that fussed about Barry, I don't think he is any better than Alonso at his best, I think Alonso at his best offers more to the team.

The only way thses transfers make sense to me is if we make profit and get a better player and I don't think we would be doing either.
Agreed, no way should we be held to ransom by Villa.

Unless it's David Villa, then by all means, WHATEVER IT TAKES....

Might be something to do with him wanting to be with his wife while she gave birth instead of travelling with the team for that CL game. There was a lot of talk at the time of Rafa being hacked off with his decision

If Barry is going to cost more than we'll get for Alonso we should stick with Alonso and not go after Barry IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If we can get Barry in for the same price that we sell Xabi I will be fairly happy. Barry and Stevie look good together. In my opinion Xabi hasn't been as good in the last two seasons as the first two.

Would be nice to keep them both, but a) its not financially viable at present, and b) we can't keep that many quality central midfielders happy.

Rafa knows jack if he thinks swapping one central midfielder for another is going to win us the title. Every man and his dog can see our main priority is to get a player to play off Torres, hence move Gerrard in with Mascherano, keep Alonso as back-up and get a couple of wingers.

That is every man except Rafa who yet again spends a summer chasing a central ****ing midfielder yet again.

If he spunks £20m plus on Barry and Milner then next season should be his last chance. If he doesn't win the title then he should be sacked
