btw that young kid who came on to replace Ibrahim, he looked quite good, be interesting to see how he develops over the tournament /next season, anyone know anything him? PSV guy right?
Worked hard and crossed the ball for the 3rd goal but actually should've scored but his finishing was poor. We've managed to convert a prolific scorer into a VERY hard working winger with no pace who is lacking in confidence in front of goal.
Bags of guts but it's been said many times - he was bought as a goalscorerMonkey Tennis

never thought I'd actually want Kuyt to stay but he has improved a lot and has put in the effort. Ok he is not the perfect player, but you can not bash him for his hardwork and effort. He is defo worth keeping around for a while longer and would alway be willing to step in, even if he ends up as a squad player.Originally posted by Cacodemon View PostNot at all. I like many on here thought that to genuinely be title challengers we needed more quality on the right, however I think over the past 2 months Kuyt has shown extraordinary "bouncebackability" to win over me and many others who wanted him on the first plane out of Liverpool.
So no, I'm not taking the piss.

It was decent save by Buffon, and he had the composure to collect the ball afterwards to set up Gio.Originally posted by hamshanks View PostWorked hard and crossed the ball for the 3rd goal but actually should've scored but his finishing was poor. Van Nistelrooy missed numerous easier chances, yet still had a great game.
The goals will come.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Ray Kennedy was bought as a centre forward, yet went on to become arguably the greatest left-sided midfield player in Europe.Originally posted by hamshanks View PostBags of guts but it's been said many times - he was bought as a goalscorer
If a player's game can be developed and modified for the good of the team it doesn't have to be a negative.

And also in Kuyts defence I really think an extended run up front would bring out the qualities we purchased him for, to be fair to the lad he has been instructed to be the team player, I think he is better suited as the top striker and needs to stay on the last man all the time. Difficult to score when you are chasing back all the bloody time isnt it?
Anyway, hes a top man and I reckon next season we will see even better performances from him.

Kuyt is kuyt lads, he'll never have the abilty to do things like beat players or open up defenses with great flair, trickery or make numerous defense splitting passes so the question is: is THAT good enough for a supposed title challenging team in the supposed best league in the world?
My answer - good enough for a place on the bench but not a regular starting position
