While I think that Pennant is limited and doesn't have the flexibility or goal scoring in his game to progress with us I like him as a player and (as BFG points out) he seems to have had a good attitude with us. No matter what some players say people have a pop. In this case of course he wants to stay - he is at Liverpool and it is the club he supports. Who knows what Rafa has said to players individually - presumable there is a range of positions from those he just wants rid of to those he feels might raise enough money to help other transfers but he would happily keep.

People's opinion of Pennant really bemuse me. In his first season, after a slow start, he was easily our best attacking playing in the second half of the season. This season he has been hampered, firstly by a serious leg injury, and secondly by Rafa's change in formation. The lad has shown a great attitude since he's been with us, even asking to play in the reserves to get match fit, and save for one silly red card he hasnt put a foot wrong. To be honest if I had to choose between Pennant and Milner, I'd stick with Pennant every time.

I don't know why people think he had a good final in that game. Sure he bet Jankaloski (sp?) a few times but his delivery was so ****ing ****e it didn't matter, he might as well have been getting tackled like he usually does. That just proved to me he's worse than I thought he was because even in time and space he can't deliver a half decent ball.Originally posted by rage View Postno matter how many times some say it it still won't be true
He was never going to be good enough when he signed and we paid well over the odds. It's not a surprise that we're stuck with dead wood like him on our hands. I just hope we don't make the same mistake again and buy Milner.

I agree with a lot of what you say and you are right Milner is no better, but that doesn't make Pennant good enough. He has far too few goals and far too few assists to be much help in winning the EPL.Originally posted by lawrie View PostPeople's opinion of Pennant really bemuse me. I think Pennant was another one of those players to fall foul of the rotation. He definatley played better when he had a small run in the team, but he was often asked to step up and put in a blinder, which he often didn't deliver.
Saying that, when Crouch had his chance and scored a winner, he still got dropped the next match, so yeah, It's bound to affect the confidence players.
Pennants attitude and work ethic have been spot on since he signed. I wouldn't like to see him go if Milner was his direct replacement, but what the fcuk do I know?# Fernando Torres, Liverpool's number 9 #

Correctamundo. Surely when given time and space a Premiership player who supposedly flung the most crosses a couple of seasons ago should deliver some quality? That stat seems to be flawed also, as it should mean he gave loads of assist as well.Originally posted by Zapater View PostI don't know why people think he had a good final in that game.
