It looks like it will be 27 as that's the number he's using in training. Seems that the no.2 is probably going to Dossena & no.6 (Riise's old no.) is going to Skrtel. That's my take on things.

Was thinking it was him, then I could have sworn he was no. 11 for some reason. Yeah he was great, although annoyingly inconsistent. He improved at Real Madrid, seemed to really mature there.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostWhat about Mcmanaman - he was amazing!
Have read his book about his 5 years in Madrid, great read.

Think you're confused with someone else. He was the most consistent player we had in the 90's, even more so than Fowler in my opinion. He got 120+ assists which is more than anyone ever in England. His only criticism was that he wasn't the best finisher but he did assist a hell of a lot of goals so it has more than balanced out. He scored some damn good goals though.Originally posted by The Aardvark View PostWas thinking it was him, then I could have sworn he was no. 11 for some reason. At madrid, his career was in severe decline. He stopped flying past people with skill and instead stopped on the ball and passed. All ever did was play sideward passes which he never did at Liverpool. My kebab comes with chilli sauce

I'm not denying he was a great player and created a lot of chances for team mates, all I'm saying is I spent a fair amount of time screaming with frustration at him when he gave the ball away in bad places and missed gilt edged chances, he was a poor finisher. Best Macca memory - shouting at him for being **** for most of that UEFA cup game against Celtic, then celebrating as he scored that brilliant equaliser late on.Originally posted by saj View PostThink you're confused with someone else. Re his time in Spain, what utter rubbish. He consistently got himself back into their side despite all the big money signings they made. He played in two Euro cup finals, scoring a great goal in one. Yes he warmed the bench for a bit, but with Zidane and Figo as competition thats no surprise. His all round game improved a lot.

It'll be a temporary number for him I should imagine, one of the lads is wearing number 14 which I found a bit strangeOriginally posted by Nick77 View PostIt looks like it will be 27 as that's the number he's using in training.
