Spot on, he's hero worshipped, he's English, he earns a bundle, he will be automatic first choice, has 6 years+ still seeing as Shearer went on for ages, there is only one reason to move from where he is, and that's medals and we all know he's not interested in medals or he wouldn't have left either us or RM, it's all about the England badge of honour for YMO, and the earning power that goes with that.

What makes you think he won't win medals playing at a massive club like Newcastle?Originally posted by lfc4everSpot on, he's hero worshipped, he's English, he earns a bundle, he will be automatic first choice, has 6 years+ still seeing as Shearer went on for ages, there is only one reason to move from where he is, and that's medals and we all know he's not interested in medals or he wouldn't have left either us or RM, it's all about the England badge of honour for YMO, and the earning power that goes with that.
...OK, so they haven't won a domestic trophy for over 50 years and the last thing they won was nearly 40 years ago but they've got the most loyal fans in the country, haven't they?
...alright, so their average attendance was 16,879 in the old Second Division 15 years ago but football was only invented in 1992 and everybody wants the cheeky Geordies to do well, don't they?
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

We've moved on and I don't think we should look back. Owen is in the past and I can't see us trying to sign him again. We have had a lucky escape when you look at his injury record at the barcodes.
The way he messed us about for 12 months and then going to Madrid is something that I'll never forget. He left us in the **** when we needed him most.
Whats more I don't think he would be a guaranteed first choice striker if he ever came back and he wouldn't be happy with that at all.
He's better off at Newcastle where he'll win absolutely nothing and when his careers over he can look at his medal collection, all won at LFC, and wonder why he ever left in the first place.
Would you want him back Les?Babel fanclub member # 4!!!

Well Rafa clearly wanted him at some point, he said so publically himself. The thing is that was before his injury problems reappeared, and before Owen ****ed up the whole deal. I think he'd take him back if Bellamy ever left, but otherwise I can't see it happening. He payed the price for not believing in the future of our club, and his career will amount to a few too many what could've beens for him. I'd wish him good luck but I'm too indifferent.Like blood on iron

I'd welcome Owen back to Anfield but I think he became like Kirkland...
He was a great striker, won us cups... But life goes on. I think he lost his pace a little bit and I also think he'll never be as good as he was when he played for us. Real Madrid f*cked him over and now at Newcastle... Well... Can you say anything positive about Geordies?
I reckon he'll return to the club like GOD did. Few more years and he's ours
But he won't be for free, methinks

Kevin Bond would agree with that assessment mate!Originally posted by GrouchoIn all seriousness Howard, although your initial post was well thought out, it contains the fundamentally flawed assumption that the people in charge of Newcastle United are capable of acting in a reasonable, rational and logical way.

As one striker in a quota of four then yes I'd be happy.Originally posted by kurtangle01

In fairness you're comparing apples and oranges. Owen can reasonably expect to be a first team regular anywhere he goes and demand top wages as he is in his prime. Fowler is very much at the end of his career, 5 or 6 years past his prime, so he probably thanks his lucky stars he's even at a club like LiverpoolOriginally posted by blackyCan't see Owen coming back to be a bit part player. Fowler wears his heart on his sleeve and ye can see he is content to be back at the club he loves no matter what role he plays.......somehow I can't imagine Owen being the same. He want's 1st team football and a bumper financial package wherever he goes!!

owens ****e now pace any more += no game. the only thing michael ever relied on was pace, sadly injuries have conspired to take it away. Now (when fit) hes pretty average speed wise, but doesnt have any skill to fall back on. wouldnt buy him for 17 quid to be honest, never mind 17 million.
wishes it was a owen bashing thread so i could say what i really think of him
