LIVERPOOL ACCEPT POMPEY BID FOR CROUCH

Striker Peter Crouch's future at Liverpool looks to be coming to an end after the club gave Portsmouth permission to open talks with the England international.

Pompey have previously had one bid - believed to be £9million - turned down but the Reds today revealed they had reached an agreement with their Premier League rivals, paving the way for negotiations between the south-coast club and their former player.

'We have reached a verbal agreement with Portsmouth and have given them permission to speak with Peter,' a spokesman told the club's website.

Crouch joined Liverpool for £7million from Southampton, having previously played for Pompey in 2001-02.
"Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

I still wouldn't be surprised if he ended up going somewhere else. Although Pompey are the only ones to agree a fee who knows who else has been having a word in Pete's ear.
"My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

Reported on RTE 1 radio (BBC 1 equivalent) in Ireland that a fee has been accepted for 14m euro's for Peter from Pompy and that the deal is expected to go through in the next 24 hours. Good luck to you Peter, you deserve a break lad. 14m euro is £11m!!!!

Well said. A good and loyal servant. Could quite easily have fooked off earlier and for less when he wasn't getting a game. £11m is a tidy profit, altho it looks likely that it'll soon be on it's way to WHL..!

You have to say hats of to Rafa for the amount of players he sells on for a profit. Not many managers can do that as often as he does

Other than Riise and Moro. Is there anyone else we have not gotten a profit on. Given our turnover it's a pretty good record.

That money will only encourage Villa and Spurs to increase their asking prices.

in a weird way I dont think we should let him go as I think he offers far more han Kuyt and Voronin, but ll the best to him, we do need the money such a sad state ofa affaris.

Crouch needs the team built around him whereas Kuyt can play in any team.
