If you are talking about Alonso then I think you have to take his injury into consideration and the fact he didn't look to bad in the euros.

Where does Barry fit in with Stevie, Masch, Kuyt and Babel though.

I don`t disagree,but many more teams found it easy to deal with Crouch than Torres(Obviously)
Problem is with Kuyt,Gerrard and Babel running at full speed they`d probably prefer Torres or another speedy striker joining them in attack.I`ve always been a huge fan of Crouch but I understand that our other 5/6 attacking players need an alike player such as Torres(Or keane) in stead of Crouch.Maybe Crouch could have been a "Superstar" in a 4-4-2 with Torres.It`s not Rafa`s preferred line up and we`ll never know whether it would have worked.I do believe that with Keane it will be a winning team.

Completely agree. I feel that Crouch wasn't given proper treatment in the team; When he was played, he did well for us. Why he wasn't played more is a huge mystery to me. With Alonso, I know he was hurt so I understand him not being given much time this year, but Crouch has been solid for us and was always a threat to defenders. Under-utlizied and now gone; His best is yet to come if given the time on the pitch and some decent service (another of our shortcomings).

Crouch is a good squad player nothing more, he's like fitting a square peg into a round hole in Rafa's attack, good as a sub to mix it up a bit but he's far to predictable to start every game also his heading is poor for a target man.

He's a pro and has done well with limited oppotunities so good luck to him with his move.

Good business by Rafa in my opinion which will be backed up but his choice of replacement, I'm hoping it's Villa but it sounds like it may be Keane.

Probably Cisse and Heskey, but reasons for both, one was injured all the time the other was pants.
