Rafa has a mighty CB headache!

We should scrap the "best midfield in the world" song and replace it with "the best central defence in the world"! Agger and Skrtel have both been very good when they have played and are deserving of a starting role! But you just can't replace Carra!!!!!!
What is Rafa going to do and what do you want him to do?

I say we should play some formation with 3 centre backs, but to me it seems Rafa's going to drop Agger. Maybe he might put Carra at RB?

I know this won't happen, but I think Kuyt should play RB/LB, against Inter and at home against Arse he was king playing that role, and I thought he was player of all 3 matches!

It's a headache, but he'd rather have those problems than the ones we had last year when Hobbs and Arbeloa were playing CB.

When we have these problems furher up the pitch we will know that we have a shot at the title. It annoys me that despite a continuous change of strikers we can get nowhere near the trio of Heskey, Owen and Fowler. Any two of those (from the treble season) with Torres would give us a hell of a chance of the title.

Why not he spent most of his time there for us in his early career and he is very different player now then he was back then, I am sure Carra would have no problems getting forward.

I think we'll see more of Carra at right back in the big games. He had a poor season last year by his standards. He's like a manager on the pitch, vital for shouting out the orders and organising the defense. But has to pull up his socks on last years performances and stop lumping the ball up the pitch to nobody. He's a definite starter this year be it at CB or RB. He got a bit casual it seemed last year, plenty of competition there this year and I expecting a return to his brilliant self. I have a suspicion we will see 3-5-2 being used in some matches. Sami is a legend and is equally as important to have around as Carra. It took him a couple of games and Ogs to get into his stride last year, couldn't fault him after that. With Pelligrino brought in for defensive coaching and the experience and ability we have not to mention the keeper, i'm not expecting too many to be going in at our end.

I don't think it will be too much of a problem for sure. Agger has been out for a whole season! it will take him a while to get back into it. I'd like to see him get a good run out in the pre-season games. The amount of games we play means that the likes of Agger, Skirtel and Carra will prob still play around 30-40 times (if injury/suspension free) and sami will prob still get about 15-20 games. The competition will be healthy, Hyyppia vastly experienced and a former club captain will be happy to give what he has, carra is red through and through and with agger and skirtel, two young and upcoming talented lads, i think we have the perfect balance with the four centre backs.

We are getting there, hopefully degen and dossena settle and do a job, we look solid in midfield whether we keep xabi or sell and sign barry, I just reckon we are two attackers short, and attacking wide player with a bit of flair who can open defences and a quality 2nd striker who could eeither partner torres or play up front on his own to cover torres.

I think the ideal players for liverpool right now would be Joe Cole and Robbie Keane.

anyway - slighlty off topic now so lets throw in a random squad formation, we have pretty much two players or more for each positiosn and just lack 'quality' in the two places mention above

all the best teams have a settled central defensive partnership though.... to be honest, i would prefer that afer 5 or 6 games rafa knew his best.... personally, i would prefer carra at right back as i feel that this would allow degen integrate to the squad easier and also we could more than likely eliminate any errors that result in players not knowing each other that well.....

i also feel that agger has all the atributes to be a world class left back should he play there (a la maldini)

We'll see, a lot has to do with who exactly we have at the start of the season.

A back 3 with wingers and no full backs would be much more exciting.

Kind of defeats the purpose of signing Dossena and DeganDegan, but does solve how you get 3 centre backs and 4 centre midfielders in a starting XI. Christmas Tree formation.....
