sorry amigo disagree with you. i'd rather have a kid that has potential to develop as a 4th choice. and a experienced game changer that offers something different as 3rd choice.

if we want to compete for the premiership we need to develop a different attitude with our 3rd and 4th choice strikers.

He showed glimpses of the form that made him Shevshenkos striking partner for the Ukraine.

Just a quick point regarding the reserves.

I doubt for one minute that Rafa hand picked and bought every player in our youth/reserve set up, that is why we have SCOUTS.

I reckon Rafa will have given a slight nod and then the rest is down to them.

If they are good enough, then they will make it into the first team.

Maybe we should look at the scouting system and not always point the finger at Rafa.

He has yet to take a punt on any young fella for a sustained period. In his time since taking over we've won back to back FA youth cups and not one player came into the squad, never mind the team for more than a match here and there. That's a load of crap about being physically developed, look at Fabregas at 16. Look at Owen at 28. If you are good enough you should most definitely be old enough and big enough. I don't think that fowler or owen would have got a go with Rafa in charge. 17-20 is a critical age for footballers. They have money, spare time, the wildness of youth. A lot of talent gets wasted at that age and if players aren't shown an interest in, they'll quickly get feed up and lose motivation.
I think the money paid for Sissoko, Lucas etc is a bit of a false argument as he had to spot them and have faith in them in much the same way he would in a young player bought through the ranks except the trust starts when he pays money for them. They were simply more talented and had experience from elsewhere (in Momo's case much of which was gained under Rafa).

I think we might have to agree to disagree on the physical/mental development bit. I see Fabregas as a partly and exception to the general trend and partly as someone who was as developed then as he is now. At the same time as Fabregas was tried in midfield so were Song and Diaby and the development of both was arguably set back. Even though both are now developing into good players. Maybe the difference in quality is the key but I think attitude and being developed is part of it.

I can see your argument and I think loans etc are a key part of Rafa's plan as he acknowledges that player need to feel they are developing to kick on and be motivated. I tend to think that Owen, Fowler and Gerrard would all have gotten chances under Rafa one way or another as they were exceptional talents in a way that I have seen no obvious evidence that our young players are yet. Certainly all of the better prospects seem to have recently moved from foreign leagues and so could arguably be said to need more time simply to learn the language etc.

Maybe Nemeth still has some development to do before being ready for the first team. The point of the reserves is to develop the player and teach them the "liverpool way", like we used to do in the past where it wasn't unusual for us to sign someone and leave them in the reserves for a couple of years before they made the breakthrough.

Ablett has said that Nemeth has somethings he needs to work on, his left foot, his build up play and tactics. Maybe they are waiting for him to master those before throwing him into the cauldron.

If having the crow buys us the time to properly develop Nemeth's potential, then in the long run that is a good deal.

Insua,El Zhar and Plessis all made the step up but I wouldn`t want them to,play in the CL final.they are still learning their trade and therefore don`t deserve a place in the 1st team yet.

Well we may see a bit more of them with the 7 subs rule coming in this season, it gives rafa the chance to put them on the bench and bring them on in games when we are winning

It is a great rule.Once your 3-0 up take off our best and blood the kids. The kids will benefit more at Liverpool than most other teams.

Eagles or Cambpell at ManU will not improve much more than they are now

Nemeth scored the only goal today for Hungary v. Bulgaria in the U-19. Andras Simon replaced him at the end and Gulacsi played in goal.

I can see him making it to the first team this season.
when things go wrong, don't walk away.
                          that'll only make it harder.

He's at the Euro U19s so we may not see much.

Yep, totally agree, hope Rafa uses the rule change to bring on some of the youth players. If he keeps using it for the likes of Voronin etc I will be disappointed.

Im actually quite excited about the 7 sub rule, I think it could be quite a significant change to the league, theres been many times when we have had to leave decent players out of the match day squad.
