Think back to the Rafa v Hicks days and the row over funds etc.

Rafa moaning and Real Madrid mentioned etc.

I think the reason is this.

Real Madrid were in for Rafa last year (allegedly) and he now knows that there ain't a chance in hell of him working with a
horrible cheating/diving/manc.

So he's happy to stay put and work out some maths.

Yep - I think he knows that he is getting exactly what he has asked for this transfer window, and that all the deals are going to be completed soon. He seems far too happy for the "we haven't got money, we need to sell to buy, it is difficult etc." quotes to be true.

My guess - Barry and Keane to arrive in the next week or so, and one other top player (Silva or equivalent) to come too.

Reasoning - we probably had about £15m net to spend this window after signing Mascherano in Jan. Add to that £10m for Crouch, £5m for Carson, plus all the other fringe players sold, and you easily cover Barry and Keane. If Alonso goes too then we should have the money to sign one other top player.

There's no way we are totally skint and will need to break even or make a net profit on transfers this window - the yanks openly borrowed enough for our usual £20m net spend each year when they last restructured their loans - that's just a line we are spinning for negotiations.

Good to see him happy and talking about the title. I've probably said it for 18 years now, but I really think this could be our year!
