Liverpool Legends XI last night....

I know, that was my thought at the start but he was one of the fitter ones. A rather overweight Michael Thomas played center back - but did very well it has to be said.

That's the thing though in these games fitness is important, I guess the likes are McAteer, Babb, Marsh etc are a good few years younger than most of the "proper legends" Neal, Aldo etc

I thought the one of him filling out a credit card application and when it came to a question about position, Macca was stumped what to put as he thought of himself as a cm "but gaffer plays me on the wing!!"

Then there was the time that Liverpool played a European game. Owing to the hour or two time difference going out they left say at 7pm and arrived at 11pm. On the way back they were leaving at 7 say and the pilot announced that they'd be landing at 9opm. Macca then asked if the captain knew a shortcut.

p.s I agree that there are players there that shouldn't be called legends, but these guys do give up their time for this. Full marks to them.

fair play i understand why people would say some of these players shouldnt be classed as legends but mcateer should be in my opinion. the guy is liverpool through and through and with all of the amazing charity work he has done and how often he bigs liverpool up i wouldnt take legend status away from him
