The way i see it is that Benitez is on borrowed time, he needs to get a result this season, probably other managers know this, he knows this.
He needs to find players who will fit straight in, no messing, job done and all that.
Firstly I don't think we'll buy Barry if we don't sell Alonso. If we do sell Xabi, however, say for £15m and add on the £11m we got for Crouch, that comes to a grand total of £26m. So even given your over inflated fee of £38m for Barry and Keane, thats a net outlay of £12m. Personally, reading between all the lines in the press, I think it's more likely to be nearer a net spend of just £7m which immediately gives the two deals a much better feel.

Whether £26m of it comes from sales or not, it's still £38m that is available to be spent on whoever we like.

How the **** can we contemplate buying Barry for twice as much a we are considering selling Xabi!!!
Credit Crunch is affecting everyone it seems.
**** busineess IMO.
Leave Gerrard, Lucas and Masch to cover that and concentrate on the
WIDE MEN..
Silva, Quaresma, Downing, etc
I'd even be look at Joe Cole and SWP etc with regards to price and availability.
