I'd have thought so. In fact I'm pretty certain there will be one more 'big' signing, with perhaps another more low-key signing too. We've probably got the cash for up to £5m for another signing, but will need to sell to buy a big name player. I still think Alonso will go, as I can't see how he can be motivated for next season having been hawked around Europe this summer...

Agreed. Has been pretty consistent performer imo. Dossenna on the left ahead of Aurelio and we have FB's who look pretty decent going forward at last.

I think we need to remember Mascherano's £17m or so in January. That makes our net spend since the end of last summer more like £29m. So I reckon we will need to sell to raise the money for Barry. One paper this morning is talking about £6m for Voronin and £4m for Pennant. Add in £14m for Alonso (if we can get it) and then £18m or so for Barry would give us a net spend for the year of around £23m, which is pretty close to our usual net spend per year on transfers.

Saw this at tale end of Keane story on BB website:

The arrival of Keane takes Liverpool's spending to about £32m since the end of last season. They have already drafted in Degen, fellow full-back Andrea Dossena, goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri and teenagers David Ngog and Emmanuel Mendy.

About £20m has been raised by selling Crouch, John Arne Riise, Scott Carson and Danny Guthrie.

So net £12 Million spend? If this is right surely we have another decent purchase left before the season kicks off?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that we have £15m to spend. It would seem in line with how we have negotiated if we had now spent much of our budget. I think we could see another deal for someone coming in but that we will see sales first.

I know, I know - just repeating what was said in this morning's times. £6m for Voronin, and Blackburn are interested in Pennant for around £4m.
