    Money for old rope

So we have raised about £20m from selling Crouch, Riise, Carson and Guthrie. Add in Pennant for £4-6m, and getting Kewell off the wage bill, I would say that is a successful summer.

Makes a massive change from the Houllier era which hamstrung us for the first 2 years of Rafa's reign. I think that we've made a profit or broke even on just about every player but Pennant (I'm not counting Kewell as he's an injured Bosman).

Rafa is the new Harry Redknapp.
    Oh I don't know.

Just to re-affirm how right you are, we have actually raised 22m from sales. When you compare what we got for Guthrie ( 2 1/4m) vs. what Manure got for Eagles (1m), like you say Rafa 'Arfur Daley' Benitez has done pretty well

Rafa has done exceptionally well when it comes to fee negotiations.

If he can get someone to pay for Voronin, he'll be confirmed as some kind of super-powered robot.

I didn't think £3.25 mill for Carson was very good until Robinson went for roughly the same amount and although I don't rate him either at least he was an England regular. In that context Carson was a great bit of business when you add on the loan fees
