But Benitez said: "If we play a 4-4-2 formation then Gerrard can play as a midfielder. If we play with Torres on his own up front then Gerrard and Keane can play either side of him.
this implies that Stevie will be given the free role again and the 3 attackers can provide the width along with the FB's.

Can see us playing systems that don't have specific roles as such for most players as they should be able to fill the spaces and cover positions as the game dictates.
Which is why i think Barry is so important to cover the left
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

he's proved he can score from anywhere on the pitch anyways so its not much of a sacrifice to make IMO.
Rafa can never win when it comes to where SG is played. Wherever he plays him the pundits/Experts will call for him to played in another role and that Rafa just doesnt know what to do with him.

If we can sort that out then we have No.19 in the bag
I actually think our mentality against Chelsea has been fine in general. We have lacked a bit in cutting edge but I think that has been a general failure of the squad we have had - hopefully Keane and improvements from Babel and others will help that. The United thing though is a real worry as in the past losses against them has ruined our momentum and it does appear to be a genuine fear for our players.
