Just a debate rage, but you have to give the kid a chance at 'a' level. Not a pre-season friendly. On current performance, i.e. the last 45 mins I'd say the whole team won't make at this level. But that would be total bollocks of course.

first of all the aforementioned came through in a different era were foreign players were the exception rather than the norm. this meant that home grown uk based players had more of a chance because the pool was smaller.

in this day and age the likes of spearing are competing with youngsters from across europe rather than exclusively in the uk. also, when the likes of gerrard, carra, mcmanaman, owen and fowler came through i do not think the premiership was at as high a level it is today.

and without being cruel, with the exception of carra who has grown to be the player he is all the others you mentioned had something very special about them from the beginning.
